Henry Hudson Bridge
NYC Dept. of Design & Construction Project Will Close Kappock Street Exit off Henry Hudson Bridge
for Three Months Starting Oct. 2

Henry Hudson Bridge motorists traveling north–bound are advised that, due to a NYC Department of Design & Construction (DDC) project beginning this Thursday, October 2, 2008, the Kappock Street exit (#18) off the bridge north-bound to the Bronx will be closed for approximately three months through December. 

As a result of the DDC project, the Bronx-bound lane on the Henry Hudson Bridge leading to the exit will also be closed around-the-clock during this period.

Motorists should use the next exit (#19 — W.232nd Street), a short distance north.

Please Read This Important Advisory Regarding Trucks Crossing MTA Bridges and Tunnels Bridges

 

Six-axle trucks possessing a valid divisible load permit with a weight that does not exceed 105,000 lbs. GVW (gross vehicle weight), and five-axle trucks not exceeding 102,000 lbs. GWV with bulk milk hauling permits will be allowed to cross the Throgs Neck Bridge during daylight hours.

These trucks must travel in the center lane at speeds of no more than 30 mph. The weight restriction for all other trucks is 80,000 lbs. GWV and compliance with the New York State Bridge formula. Operators should ascertain the validity of their permits on facilities not under the jurisdiction of MTA Bridges and Tunnels.

This permission may be revoked at any time and for any reason.

MTA Bridges and Tunnels weight restrictions of 80,000 lbs. GWV and compliance with the New York State Bridge formula is in effect at all other crossings, including the Triborough, Verrazano-Narrows and Bronx-Whitestone Bridges. At the Triborough and Verrazano-Narrows Bridges, operators of overweight and over dimensional vehicles should call these facilities to arrange for special handling passage. No overweight vehicles are permitted at the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge.
