RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administer and document current network data security, SQL security, and application security for the production application environment including granting and revoking users rights and reviewing and communicating this environment to Data Administration and Application Development, when required.
- Plan, document, and integrate server installations and upgrades into the agency’s infrastructure as well as monitor and support overnight and daily tasks including performing manual loads on production dependent systems.
- Perform periodic application data archiving to external media and catalog information for future data retrieval.
- Plan, develop, and test disaster recovery strategies and procedures to restore the production environment to a production state.
- Develop installation procedures for agency vendor and in-house software and perform System Management Server (SMS) administration for distributing, controlling, and coordinating the rollout and upgrades of application packages to desktops. This would include administering security for the production environment on agency servers and desktops.
- Participate in data modeling, database design, and data warehouse structures with Data Administrator and application staff.
- Oversee the development and administration of documentation between application analysts and networking infrastructure staff as well as respond to and resolve help desk work orders related to data administration and production environment issues and problems.
- Support and coordinate departmental activities in the development,
implementation, and maintenance of LI Bus’s applications and provide technical
server and application environment support for the application software,
the data warehouse, and the server application functionality.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science with five years of experience in a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- Experience with System Management Server (SMS) administration and Active Directory is required.
- Prior experience in developing and documenting procedures is required. Experience with documenting the technical back-end server environment, the database infrastructure, and the database entity relationships diagram is preferred.
- Must possess the ability to exercise independent judgment, creative problem-solving techniques, and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Related certifications such as MCSA, MCDBA, and MCAD are preferred.
