RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support, maintain, track, and troubleshoot LI Bus’s multi-site, multi-vendor
network infrastructure and maintain network security, data integrity,
and network performance. - Develop and maintain up-to-date documentation for network hardware/software inventory, network diagrams, and policies/procedures.
- Monitor and maintain the availability of a centralized, decentralized,
and remote network services including, but not limited to file servers,
database servers, application servers, printers, electronic mail, remote access, internet access, and mainframe gateway. - Plan and install software updates and patches as well as hardware upgrades.
- Monitor the network status and backup logs to ensure agency data integrity
and assist in implementing and monitoring security controls
to safeguard the system from physical harm, viruses, and unauthorized usage. - Evaluate and recommend standard network configurations and define specific hardware requirements to meet the business requirements.
- Maintain accurate and updated network hardware and software documentation
and diagrams as well as develop and maintain
network policies, standards, and procedures. - Assist in developing procedures for the IT infrastructure disaster recovery
plan and participate in agency and MTA Enterprise
disaster recovery drills. - Review and keep up-to-date on new technology and provide recommendations
to management regarding using new technologies to
better support the end users. - Supervise and manage consultants and interns in network administration.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science with five to seven years of experience in a related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. One year of managerial/supervisory experience is preferred.
- Certification as a MCSA, CCNA and a CNE or equivalent is required.
- Five years of experience in server/network design, configuration, troubleshooting techniques, and the use of diagnostic software and tools are required.
- Five years of experience with LAN technologies, including multiple network
operating systems (Windows, Novell, UNIX), topologies
(Token Ring, Ethernet), protocols (TCP/IP), and wide-area networking is required. - Must be proficient in the use of data scopes, sniffers, and other electronic analysis tools.
- Proven ability to configure and maintain all networking hardware including servers, routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Knowledge of Windows (2000,2003, XP) and Novell network operating systems
and administering email systems is required;
GroupWise administration is a plus. - Prior experience in developing and documenting IT network policies and procedures is required.
- Must possess strong analytical as well as written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision and handle critical situations.
- Checkpoint-1, Netscreen, or equivalent firewall experience is a plus.
