RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist with creating and maintaining technical drawings using CAD software for new bus specifications, contracts, and procurement of maintenance materials.
- Participate in investigating issues related to the structure of the bus including metallurgy, welds, cracks, corrosion, fasteners, strain gauge testing, and Finite Element Analysis.
- Investigate issues related to the air system, including the compressor, air dryer, oil/water separator, air brakes, and suspension.
- Assists in performing First Article Inspections on parts and components to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Assist in the preparation of specifications, bulletins, directives, procedures, presentations, cost/benefit analysis, and other reports for the department.
- Provide mechanical engineering assistance to the department.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field from an accredited institution is required.
- Must possess a clean and valid New York State Driver’s License.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and to oversee project implementation.
- Effective writing, organization and communication skills are required.
- Basic PC skills, including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access are required. Working knowledge of Auto CAD or similar software program is required.
- Experience in transportation/industrial workplace desirable.
- One year of experience in an engineering field is preferred.
