The LIRR Is the Best Way to Get You There with Discount Packages Including Transportation, Oysters and Family Fun!

Avoid parking and traffic headaches by taking the LIRR to the heart of the Oyster Festival on October 17 & 18. The MTA Long Island Rail Road’s discount package to one of Long Island’s premier fall events is a “pearl” of a bargain. The LIRR will be offering additional train service to the event as well as a great discount package that includes round-trip rail fare to and from the Oyster Bay Station, vouchers for three free oysters on the half-shell for adults and free admission to the Slide for children. Everything is within easy walking distance of the Oyster Bay train station.

New this year, the LIRR will offer a special package for customers traveling from eastern Long Island on the Port Jefferson branch. Included in the package price for Port Jefferson branch customers is round-trip rail fare to the Syosset Station where customers will board shuttle bus service to the Oyster Bay Station, vouchers for three free oysters on the half-shell for adults and free admission to the Slide for children.

Nestled in Long Island’s Gold Coast community, Oyster Bay, the Oyster Festival’s deep-rooted tradition of food, frolic and family fun returns, celebrating its 26th year as one of the largest waterfront festivals on the East Coast.

This year’s Oyster Festival on the weekend of October 17 and 18, offers something for the whole family, with more than 25 food vendors, 150 arts and crafts booths and legendary oyster eating contests along with a variety of musical performances and a waterfront tall ships exhibit.

Take a stroll through the Oyster Festival and enjoy an array of aromas filling the air, from roasted corn, hot apple cider, and fresh oysters.

to 6 PM. Take any train to/from Oyster Bay Station or to/from Syosset Station. The cost of the special non-escorted package ranges from $6 to $19 for adults (based on origin station), and $3.00 for children 5-11.

Oyster Bay Branch Eastbound Service (going to the Festival)
Hourly eastbound service is available departing Mineola at 11:06 AM, 12:10 PM, 1:06 PM, 2:10 PM, 3:06 PM, 4:10 PM and 5:06 PM. Connecting service to Mineola is available at Penn Station, Woodside, Forest Hills, Kew Gardens, Flatbush Avenue, Nostrand Avenue, East New York and Jamaica. Oyster Bay Branch trains serve the following stations: Mineola, East Williston, Albertson, Roslyn, Greenvale, Glen Head, Sea Cliff, Glen Street, Glen Cove, Locust Valley and Oyster Bay.

Oyster Bay Branch Westbound Service (returning from the Festival)
Hourly westbound service is available departing Oyster Bay at 12:20 PM, 1:13 PM, 2:20 PM, 3:13 PM, 4:20 PM, 5:20 PM, 6:20 PM, 7:13 PM and 8:20 PM.

Port Jefferson Branch Service Via Syosset Station
Those attending the Festival can purchase a LIRR package from Port Jefferson Branch service to Syosset Station, and transfer to a shuttle bus to and from the event.

Port Jefferson Branch Westbound Service (going to the Festival)
Westbound service is available departing Port Jefferson at 10:08 AM, 11:42 AM, 1:08 PM, 2:42 PM, and 4:08 PM. (For these trains, customers are required to transfer at Huntington for train service to Syosset.) The following trains will originate at Huntington: 10:36 AM, 11:36 AM, 12:03 PM, 1:03 PM, 1:36 PM, 2:36 PM, 3:03 PM, 4:03 PM, and 4:36 PM.

Port Jefferson Branch Eastbound Service (returning from the Festival)
Eastbound service to Port Jefferson will depart Syosset at 12:44 PM, 2:17 PM, 3:44 PM, 5:17 PM and 6:44 PM (transfer at Huntington for service to Port Jefferson). In addition, trains to Huntington will depart Syosset at: 12:17 PM, 12:44 PM, 1:17 PM, 1:44 PM, 317 PM, 3:44 PM, 4:17 PM, 4:44 PM, 5:17 PM, 5:44 PM, 6:17 PM, 6:44 PM, and 7:17 PM.
