Puerto Rican Day Parade Sunday June 14

Alcoholic Beverages Prohibited at Stations, Platforms and Trains

The MTA Long Island Rail Road will expand train service with additional cars on as many as 25 trains to accommodate customers traveling to the Puerto Rican Day Parade on Sunday June 14. Cars will be added to make trains 12 cars long as needed. In an effort to maintain orderly travel for customers attending the parade, alcoholic beverages will not be permitted on the trains, platforms or in the stations. Alcoholic beverages observed at LIRR facilities will be confiscated by MTA Police. The LIRR will not sell alcoholic beverages on June 14.

The parade steps off at 11 AM at Fifth Avenue and 44th Street in Manhattan and marches uptown along Fifth Avenue to 86th Street.

Customers are requested to purchase round-trip tickets at LIRR ticket offices or from ticket machines before boarding to avoid paying higher on board fares and to avoid long lines. Customers traveling in small groups can also save by purchasing the off-peak ten-trip ticket, which can be used by more than one person, even companions traveling together. The Family Fare provides an economical opportunity to bring the kids. Up to four children (ages 5-11) can ride with each adult (18 or over) for only 75-cents per child each way when tickets are purchased at a ticket office or ticket machine for off-peak travel. The cost is one dollar per child if purchased on-board trains.
