Customer Appreciation Winners Are
Broadway Bound!
There were two lucky winners among the 1,200 LIRR customers that
entered our 175th Anniversary raffle on February 24. Leon
McDonald of Huntington Station, who won a family four-pack to
Dora the Explorer Live!, said he'd be taking his godchildren and
that "They'll love it!" Leon commutes from Huntington every day,
playing poker with his lawyer and his accountant. A fashion buyer
at Lord & Taylor in Manhattan
who has been making his commute to the city for more than two decades,
Leon said, "We do so much networking on that train." Michelle
Contos of Bohemia, who does marketing for IPC Information systems in
Manhattan, won a family four-pack to Thomas & Friends
Live! On Stage, and plans to take her young nephews and neighbors to see
it. Michelle, who's originally from Queens, has been traveling from Oakdale
for almost 10 years, and says she and her many commuting friends
make the most of the trip. For years now, these long-distance friends
have been celebrating Christmas with an onboard party, and this year
they had it catered! Michelle commented, "I've made
so many friends on that train!" When presenting the lucky duo
with their prizes, LIRR President Helena E. Williams said, "This
monthly giveaway contest is a way for the Railroad to say
thank you to our customers. It's really wonderful that the two
people who won are monthly customers. "The next Customer Appreciation
Day will be held on March 18, where prizes will include tickets
to the 2009 New York International Auto Show,
Mamma Mia!, The Little Mermaid, and Islanders games, with our
big anniversary celebration following on April 24. **Details
