- Use your Unlimited Ride MetroCard at least once to activate your card.
Refill it:
- At any time after that, you can refill your 7-Day or 30-Day Unlimited Ride MetroCard, but it must be the same unlimited ride period.
— A 7-Day MetroCard can only be refilled with 7-Day purchase
— A 7-Day Express Bus Plus MetroCard can only be refilled with a 7-Day Express Bus Plus MetroCard
— A 30-Day MetroCard can only be refilled with a 30-Day purchase.
Refilling is easy at a vending machine. Just press “MetroCard”, then “Refill Your Card” and follow the instructions. You can also refill your card at
any station booth.
Your Unlimited Ride MetroCard can only hold one refill at a time. And remember, your refill is activated on the first swipe only after your current
Unlimited Ride period ends. And once you’ve activated it again, you can refill it again.
Keep it:
-
Even if you won’t be using your Unlimited Ride MetroCard for a period of time, keep it to refill it at your convenience (until the card life expiration date printed on the back).
It’s that simple. You won’t have to worry about running out of rides again and it’s good for the environment.
