The experience

Sometimes the most breath taking attractions and experiences are free! New York’s Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park is the world’s longest, elevated pedestrian bridge, stretching 1.28 miles, 212 feet above the Hudson River. The panoramic views of the Catskill Mountains and Hudson River from the Walkway are spectacular in any season.

Experience Walkway State Park and save with discount rail Getaway packages to the Mid-Hudson Children's Museum and Empire Cruises in the Heart of the Hudson Valley.

This is an easy Getaway on Metro-North because it's all just minutes from the Poughkeepsie Station and the Walkway is FREE! For more information, visit walkway.org or nysparks.com.

Getting there

Take the Hudson Line to Poughkeepsie Station and then pick the option that works best for you:

Free Shuttle: Show your Metro-North ticket at River Station, a popular eatery across from the Poughkeepsie Station, for a 25% discount off your meal. Then hop on the free Walkway shuttle that the restaurant provides to its patrons. Once you’ve strolled and photographed your fill, the shuttle will return you to the station for your trip home. For more information on the restaurant, visit www.riverstationrest.com or call 845-452-9207.

Taxi: Taxis are available at the Poughkeepsie Station and the Walkway is just a 5-minute ride from the station.

Walk: The entrance to the Walkway State Park is just a 20-minute walk from the station.  When you exit the station, just follow the directional signs on the street.
