The Connecticut Department of Transportation and Metro-North regret any inconvenience to Waterbury Branch customers during this improvement.
New East-of-Hudson Schedules Effective July 13 On the Upper Hudson Line, completion of track work between Beacon and Poughkeepsie results in the end of schedule changes that have been in effect since April 5th. Also to accommodate future track maintenance outages, the schedule pattern for off-peak and weekend trains from Poughkeepsie to Grand Central is being changed from 33 minutes past each hour to 40 minutes past each hour. In some cases, weekend travel times are shortened by one minute to reflect actual running times. See a new schedule for details beginning the week of July 6th. Progress on the station rehabilitation project at Philipse Manor, Scarborough and Ossining will require substitute bus service for about a year at Philipse Manor and Scarborough for AM Reverse Peak and PM Reverse Peak customers. About two dozen customers will have travel time increases up to 20 minutes. On the Waterbury Branch, tie replacement and bridge maintenance requires the suspension of train service between Bridgeport and Waterbury from July 13 through August 14. Substitute buses will replace 15 weekday trains and 10 weekend trains, resulting in longer travel times for all customers on the Waterbury Branch.
New West-of-Hudson Timetables Effective July 12 On the Pascack Valley Line, customers will now have four Metro-North Railroad express trains on the weekend—trains that will no longer stop in New Jersey. This new express service will provide New York State Pascack Valley Line customers with savings of up to 23 minutes in travel time. On the Port Jervis Line, the last evening departure from Hoboken on weekdays and weekends will now depart 35 minutes later, at 12:40 AM, and connect with a Penn Station departure that will leave 45 minutes later, at 12:34 AM. This will provide numerous advantages including less wait time for the connection, more time for late night customers in New York City, a 15-minute shorter ride for the Penn Station departure customers, and a better transit alternative for late evening events at the Meadowlands Complex when NJ Transit begins direct service there later this summer. So everyone wins! The new policy now allows bicycles: Please remember: bicycles are still not permitted on inbound AM Peak and outbound PM Peak trains as well as during the holiday periods from which they are currently prohibited. (Exceptions to this policy are identified in your timetable.)
