More Metro-North customers will soon have access to mobile ticketing. The MTA has announced that MTA eTix, the ticketing app that allows Metro-North Railroad and Long Island Rail Road customers to buy train tickets anytime, anywhere on their smartphone, will be available for travel on Metro-North’s Harlem Line starting at 4:26 a.m. on Monday, July 25, when the Harlem Line’s first train of the week departs from its first station. The app continues to be available on Metro-North’s Hudson Line and the LIRR’s Port Washington Branch. The app is scheduled to become available for Metro-North’s New Haven Line, the New Haven Line’s three branches, and the rest of the LIRR, during the week of August 22.

Because of this afternoon's crane accident and closure of the Tappan Zee Bridge, Metro-North Railroad’s Haverstraw-Ossining Ferry and Newburgh-Beacon Ferry will honor TAPPAN ZEExpress (TZx) bus tickets for the remainder of the day. Customers who normally depart from Grand Central Terminal to connect to the TZx bus at Tarrytown can connect to the ferries by staying on a local train to Ossining, or catching an express train to Beacon. Hudson Line tickets to Tarrytown will be honored for travel at all stations on the Hudson Line, as far as Poughkeepsie. Also, NJTRANSIT and Metro-North are cross-honoring Hudson Line tickets on the Pascack Valley Line.

MTA MUSIC will present a selection of Mozart’s repertoire through performances by West Village Quartet (strings), Leah Coloff (cello), Luellen Abdoo (violin), Emily Hopkins (harp), Jim Graseck (violin) and Susan Keser (violin) on Friday, July 22. Governor Cuomo has unveiled the design features of 1,025 new and reimagined subway cars – including vital enhancements to the exteriors and interiors of regular cars, wider doors, as well as the addition of up to 750 “Open Car End” designed-cars, which will reduce wait times and increase capacity. The Governor also previewed key elements that will be featured in the renovation of 31 subway stations throughout the New York Metropolitan Area, and announced that the first of several Requests for Proposals will be issued this week. The MTA is using design-build contracts to expedite the process and ensure the shortest timeframe for project completion. These vital investments are part of the $27 billion, five-year MTA Capital Program to renew and expand the MTA network. Governor Cuomo unveiled the ambitious design-plan at the Transit Museum in Brooklyn on Monday, July 18.

On Monday, July 11, MTA New York City Transit’s FASTRACK program returns to the [A][C][E] lines between Midtown Manhattan and Downtown Brooklyn. From 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., for four consecutive weeknights from Monday, July 11, to early Friday morning, July 15, [A] and [E] trains will run via the 6 Av line in Manhattan.

The last day of June saw a couple of milestones at the Second Avenue Subway Community Information Center (CIC),. First, MTA Capital Construction unveiled its latest exhibit entitled Second Avenue Subway: Phase 2 and Beyond. The unveiling occurred right before the facility’s 20,000th visitor crossed the threshold on Thursday.

Two weeks after Governor Cuomo’s announcement that the current Q70 route serving LaGuardia Airport would be relaunched in September as a Select Bus Service – with a distinctive new look – the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced a new marketing campaign designed to raise awareness of the bus service that provides direct, non-stop service between LaGuardia Airport and two regional transit hubs in Queens that connect to five subway lines, Long Island Rail Road and seven bus lines.

LIRR customers should expect eastbound cancellations and delays of up to 1 hour due to a truck striking an LIRR bridge west of Woodside. Customers for Far Rockaway, Long Beach and Hempstead Branches can take the 2/3 subway from 34th Street to Atlantic Terminal, where eastbound LIRR train service is available. NYC Transit is cross-honoring. NYC Transit is also honoring LIRR fares on the E subway train to Penn at Jamaica (Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av), Kew Gardens (Union Tpke) and Forest Hills (71st Av).

On Monday, July 4, subways will operate on a Saturday schedule. There will be no  train service in Brooklyn, and no  express service. [B] trains will not run, customers are encouraged to use the [A][C][D] and/or [Q] instead. [M] trains will not run between Delancey-Essex Sts and 71 Ave; [Q] service is suspended between 57 St-7Av and Ditmars Blvd; and [Z] service is suspended, take the [J] instead.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) will offer extra railroad service on Friday, July 1, to allow customers to get a head start a long Fourth of July weekend. OnMonday, July 4, subways, buses and Metro-North will operate on a Saturday schedule. The Long Island Rail Road and the Staten Island Railway will operate on a Sunday schedule. MTA Long Island Rail Road is helping customers enjoy their summer holiday weekend by providing 10 additional early getaway trains on Friday and enhanced service on Thursday for those looking to escape even earlier. And that’s not all – beginning this Friday, July 1, the LIRR is offering new Fire Island Ferry connections on top of the Railroad’s already enhanced summer Montauk Branch schedule. A regular weekend schedule will be in effect on Saturday, July 2, and Sunday, July 3 (see Montauk Branch details below). LIRR will operate on a Sunday schedule on Monday, July 4. Customers should also note there is a bicycle ban on Friday, July 1, Saturday, July 2, and Monday, July 4.

Metro-North Railroad will have lots of extra service on Friday, July 1, to help those who want to get a jump start on the long weekend, with 17 extra "getaway" departures from Grand Central Terminal between 1 p.m. and 4:11 p.m. To allow for the service, certain departures from Grand Central Terminal later that evening will be combined or cancelled.
