Subway and bus riders may notice something a little different, yet familiar on some new MetroCards. That's because wo medical facilities in New York City have purchased advertising space on MetroCards, becoming the first hospitals to promote their services on the fare card. A print run of 50,000 cards for Mount Sinai’s Urgent Care site was the first of the two to be made available last week, with distribution at the 116 St-Columbia University [1] station and 96 St [1][2][3] station.
[G] Line service was restored on Tuesday, September 2 in time for the post Labor Day morning rush. The five-week suspension between Court Sq and Nassau Av began July 25 and gave MTA New York City Transit maintenance crews the opportunity to make Fix&Fortify resiliency repairs to the tubes, flooded and badly damaged during Superstorm Sandy nearly two years ago.
Metro-North doesn’t want you to work hard to celebrate Labor Day! Metro-North has plenty of train service to get you where you need to go for the entire holiday weekend starting Friday, August 29, and continuing through Labor Day, Monday, September 1.
Long Island Rail Road customers have more reasons to make an early getaway and hang onto the last days of summer. The LIRR will provide eight additional early-afternoon trains from Penn Station on Friday, August 29, for customers planning to get an early start to he Labor Day Weekend. There will be three extra Babylon trains, three extra Port Jefferson Branch trains, one extra train on the Port Washington Branch and one extra train to Far Rockaway.
The LIRR and Metro-North will provide 27 additional early-afternoon trains from Manhattan on Friday, August 30, for customers planning an early getaway for the Labor Day Weekend. On Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 2, Metro-North will operate on a Sunday schedule, and the LIRR will operate on a Sunday/holiday schedule.
New routes, extensions and stops are among the bus enhancements customers will get to use on Sunday, August 31. One example will be the M12 route on the Far West Side of Manhattan to meet a demand for public transportation in an area of Manhattan that has experienced significant residential and commercial growth.

Tennis fever is about to grip New York and MTA Long Island Rail Road will be providing extra train service to Mets-Willets Point Station in Queens to get fans to the U.S. Open Tennis Tournament beginning with the first pre-tournament event on Tuesday, August 19 through the championship showdowns that wrap up on Monday, September 8.

The MTA’s Weekender: The Way Around Weekend Work for August 15 - August 18
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced an update to the MTA Subway Time™ iPhone and web app that makes real-time arrival information available for MTA Staten Island Railway. MTA Subway Time™ app was launched in December 2012 and shows the real-time train arrival data for the [1][2][3][4][5][6][L] lines and the 42 St [S] shuttle.
LIRR customers are advised to expect some cancellations and minor delays during this evening's rush hour due to lingering weather-related issues.
The historic 1890 train station in Port Chester has been renovated and has reopened to the public as the Port Chester Hall & Beer Garden in the heart of downtown. The new eatery also provides weekday coffee service in the morning for locals and Metro-North commuters alike.
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and New York City Department of Transportation (DOT) have teamed to install new way-finding maps throughout the city, making it easier for subway customers to orient themselves and learn what a neighborhood has to offer as they step out of a subway station. This next generation of the subway system’s helpful neighborhood map is being installed in all 468 subway stations.
