It’s been a long winter and MTA’s Long Island Rail Road is here to help welcome the warmer weather by offering special ticket packages to New York City’s biggest new show, New York Spring Spectacular, premiering March 12 at Radio City Music Hall. For a limited time, customers can save $10 on tickets to select performances to this brand-new, live theatrical production starring Tony Award winning actress Laura Benanti, Emmy Award winning choreographer Derek Hough and the legendary Rockettes.
From a distance the scene mirrors something out of a Hollywood science-fiction movie shoot: a powerful floodlight illuminating heavy machinery and a crew clad in reflective orange garb moving with flawless precision. But there are no actors here: only employees who spend every weekend in Grand Central working to improve Metro-North's infrastructure as we continue to focus on improving safety and reliability.
On Monday, March 9, MTA New York City Transit’s FASTRACK program returns to Manhattan stations along the [4][5][6] lines. For four consecutive weeknights from Monday, March 9, to early Friday morning, March 13, [4][5][6] trains will run express in both directions between 125 St and Grand Central-42 St. [5] service ends early in Manhattan each night.

MTA Bridges and Tunnels said Friday the next phase of construction work in the $235.7 million Verrazano-Narrows Bridge upper level deck replacement project is set to begin with the demolition of the original 1960s-era roadway and installation of a lighter-weight, longer-lasting steel orthotropic deck. A new seventh roadway lane, which will be used as a Bus/HOV lane, will also be constructed.

East Side Access for Long Island commuters is moving another step ahead. The MTA has awarded a contract to GCT Constructors, JV, a joint venture consisting of Schiavone Construction Co. and John P. Picone Inc., to build the future Long Island Rail Road concourse at Grand Central Terminal. The $404.8 million dollar contract, which with options could increase to a total of $428.9 million, was awarded after a competitive request for proposal process that drew nine other firms.
