Cuomo has announced the addition of Apple Pay and Masterpass digital wallet technology to MTA eTix, the mobile ticketing app that enables Metro-North Railroad and Long Island Rail Road customers to purchase their tickets anywhere, anytime. Starting tomorrow morning, customers of these services will be able to use both services to purchase one way, round trip, ten trip, weekly, CityTickets -- as well and monthly passes —through MTA eTix.

MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that routine schedule adjustments to certain Metro-North Railroad Harlem and New Haven Line trains will take effect on Sunday, October 2. As part of this schedule change, the railroad will increase service at the Melrose and Tremont stations as a demonstration project to gauge the effect on ridership. On the Hudson Line, a temporary construction-related service change will be in effect on Saturday, October 8, and Sunday, October 9.

Two of the Long Island Rail Road's central hubs are about to get makeovers. Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced on Wedensday that work has begun on a $121 million initiative to rebuild, reimagine and modernize the Hicksville station, the busiest station on Long Island. In addition, the LIRR has awarded a $64.9 million contract to create a new platform and tracks at the Jamaica station, the LIRR’s central hub and main transfer point. Renderings of the Hicksville project are available here and of the Jamaica project here. The capital investments will improve the two key stations on the LIRR's 40-mile spine between Jamaica and Ronkonkoma.

As renewal projects at the Saratoga Av and Pennsylvania Av 3 line stations near completion, MTA New York City Transit will reopen the stations at 5:00 a.m. Monday, September 19. The two stations were closed for renewal work on April 11, 2016 as part of an $88 million capital project to rehabilitate seven elevated stations along the 3 line on the New Lots Av Branch. During the closures, customers were able to take advantage of free shuttle bus service. Improvements at both stations include the installation of brand new windscreens, platform lighting, benches, trash receptacles, guard rails and ADA tactile warning strips on the platforms. Both stations were painted and the fare control areas were reconfigured to enable better customer flow. Structural renovations include the installation of new columns, platform rubbing boards, and new mezzanine floors. While service at these stations will be restored, there is still work to be completed, including the installation of new windows, and a new exterior façade to the mezzanine.
