A group of second graders from P.S. 185 in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn broke out their sketching pencils one brilliant fall morning in October for a field trip down to Shore Road in the shadow of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to draw sketches of the 4,260-foot-long span. Thirty students from the Walter Kassenbrock P.S. 185 K-5 elementary school on Ridge Boulevard are helping MTA Bridges and Tunnels celebrate the 50th anniversary of the opening of the bridge through their artwork.

The LIRR plans to give pedestrians in Port Washington more access to the train station. The plan is to construct a temporary extension to an existing pedestrian bridge at Port Washington Station over a four-day period beginning Thursday, October 16 and finishing up on Sunday, October 19. The project will have no impact on train service.
Beginning at 5:00 a.m., Monday, September 29, [A] Line customers will once again have access to the Queens-bound sides of the 88 St and 104 St stations along the Liberty Avenue Line in Queens. The five-month station renewal project is part of a major $39 million capital project that will see the complete renewals of five stations along the Liberty Avenue [A] Line.
MTA Chairman and CEO Thomas F. Prendergast recognized nine Bridge and Tunnel officers during MTA’s monthly board meeting on Wednesday for their brave actions that saved more than a dozen people from an apartment building fire near the Queens Midtown Tunnel in July.
