You don’t have to get “on the road again” to travel to the New York International Auto Show - just ride the rails. The Long Island Rail Road is offering a special discount package to the New York International Auto Show at the Jacob Javits Center, April 14 to 23, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. (10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Sunday April 16 and 23). Long Island Rail Road customers can take advantage of up to 30% savings for the package, which includes LIRR off-peak round-trip rail fare and admission to the Auto Show. Metro-North customers receive discount show admission and reduced rail fare.
Because of an Amtrak derailment at Penn Station this morning, the Long Island Rail Road anticipates cancellations and delays for this evening’s rush hour. To avoid delays, customers are advised to leave New York City before 4 p.m. today, or delay departure from the city until after 8 p.m.
The Village of Montauk is once again holding its popular annual St. Patrick's Day Parade, and the LIRR will be there to provide extra train service before and after the parade on Sunday, March 26.

The proposed Long Island Rail Road Expansion Project, which adds a third track to the congested two-track Main Line in Nassau County and eliminates seven street-level train crossings in the project area, would reduce delays and improve reliability for hundreds of thousands of commuters due to the interconnected nature of the LIRR’s 10 branches, officials said. The project would also add peak-hour passenger service.
The first of 43 new buses for Select Bus Service (SBS) have arrived in the Bronx and the Queens, with a distinct sleek new look and expanded customer amenities such as Wi-Fi service and USB charging ports conveniently located throughout the vehicles.
Great news for L train riders: Canarsie Tunnel repairs now scheduled for 15 months, down from 1.5 years.

Cashless tolling will begin on the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial and Cross Bay Veterans Bridges in Queens on April 30. The transition to cashless tolling is a major component of the Governor Andrew M. Cuomo's plan to reimagine New York's crossings for the 21st century and will reduce congestion and improve travel time at Rockaway’s major crossings ahead of the region’s summer travel season. The Rockaway resident rebate program is unaffected by the switch to cashless tolling.
Following the conclusion of Winter Storm Stella, the MTA anticipates a near normal morning rush hour across most services on Wednesday, March 15.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has announced a new partnership between MTA Metro-North Railroad and Zipcar, a leading provider of vehicle sharing services, to launch a Hudson Valley Car Share initiative. Zipcars are available at nine Metro-North stations in the Hudson Valley so passengers can conveniently take a Zipcar from the station and easily travel to tourist destinations and other locations throughout the region.
