Since March 2014, major station enhancements have been underway to improve customer safety and amenities at Fordham serving the Harlem and New Haven Line. This work is taking place alongside the renovation of neighboring Fordham Plaza being done by the NYC Department of Transportation and NYC Department of Design and Construction.

MTA New York City Transit's aggressive maintenance program — came to the Lenox Avenue Line for the first second consecutive week, suspending 2 subway service between 3 Av-149 St and 96 St for four consecutive nights. Free shuttle buses provided alternate service. 3 subway service did not run.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has announced that the MTA intends to award a four-year, $236.5 million contract to rebuild the Queens Midtown Tunnel, which was heavily damaged during Superstorm Sandy and since has been operating with temporary repairs. The contract – which would be with Judlau Contracting Inc. – was approved by the MTA Bridges and Tunnels Committee today and is expected to be approved by the full MTA Board on Wednesday.

If it’s spring, it must mean potholes are in bloom thanks to cold winter weather and repeated freeze and thaw cycles. MTA Bridges and Tunnels has dispatched its two RoadPatcher all-in-one pothole repair trucks to fill them when we find them, repairing more than 2,000 potholes at MTA crossings from January through mid-March.

The LIRR is advising customers to anticipate canceled and diverted trains as well as delays during the morning rush hour on Monday, March 23, due to the derailment of a non-passenger train in the LIRR’s Westside Yard. LIRR crews will be working throughout the night and overnight to re-rail the derailed cars. With the 254th St. Patrick’s Day Parade scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, Metro-North will ban alcohol to maintain orderly train service and is planning to run up to six extra inbound trains to help accommodate revelers heading to the parade. Going home, one extra train will run on the Hudson Line.

For the first time, MTA New York City Transit brings FASTRACK to the  lines in Harlem and the Bronx for two consecutive weeks. Beginning Monday, March 16, from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., for four consecutive weeknights, and from Monday, March 23, to early morning Friday, March 27,  trains are suspended between 3 Av-149 St and 96 St.  service is entirely suspended.
