On July 1, as part of Metro-North's commitment to providing our customers with safe, reliable and comfortable train service, we began a comprehensive right-of-way improvement program in the Bronx between Melrose and Woodlawn. This nine-week project includes track and drainage improvements, tie replacement, fencing repairs and general cleanup of the area through Labor Day.

You now have the world’s largest train terminal at your fingertips, with the most up-to-date commuter rail schedule available on mobile devices, as MTA and Metro-North Railroad have launched the official app for Grand Central Terminal. Originally opened in 1913, the iconic train terminal is celebrating its centennial anniversary this year.
The MTA will offer extra railroad service on Wednesday, July 3, to allow customers to get a head start on the Fourth of July holiday. On Thursday, July 4, subways and buses will operate on a Saturday schedule, and the Long Island Rail Road, Metro-North Railroad and Staten Island Railway will operate on a Sunday schedule.
The MTA Long Island Rail Road will provide additional early-afternoon service from Penn Station, Wednesday, July 3, adding eight eastbound trains to the schedule for customers planning an early getaway for the start of the Independence Day holiday.

Building on its successful effort to improve bus service efficiency and reduce travel times along some of the city’s more heavily-traveled thoroughfares, MTA New York City Transit will launch a new Select Bus Service (SBS) route along Webster Avenue, one of the Bronx’s main north-south corridors on Sunday, June 30th.
In a move that is expected to generate significant revenue for its capital program, the MTA will vacate its headquarters buildings in Midtown Manhattan by the end of next year and award a long-term lease to a developer expected to demolish the buildings and redevelop the premier location with modern Class A offices, a hotel, residential tower, or a mixture of uses.
