Fans headed to Yankee Stadium for Tuesday’s wild card playoff game can take a pre-game ride on a four-car nostalgia train. The train is scheduled to leave 42 St-Grand Central at approximately 7 p.m., arriving at 161 St-Yankee Stadium about 30 minutes later. The cars, originally operated by the Interborough Rapid Transit (IRT) system, entered service in 1917 and worked into the early 1960s. The train will operate non-stop to 161 St.

MTA New York City Transit has begun to test new technologies aimed at improving safety for drivers, bus customers and pedestrians. The 60-day tests of pedestrian turn warning and collision avoidance systems will determine if a full pilot of one or both systems can proceed in 2016.

MTA Bridges and Tunnels officials, Staten Island elected officials and family members of fallen MTA Bridge and Tunnel Officer Thomas Choi attended a solemn ceremony Monday to rename a portion of Major Avenue in honor of Choi, who was critically injured at the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in October 2013 and succumbed to those injuries last December after remaining in a coma for 14 months.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is highlighting its continuing efforts toward a greener world with a special edition MetroCard asking customers to work together for climate action. A million MetroCards have been issued with a green front face and a green message on the back reminding customers that they are helping to address climate change by taking public transportation and asking how else they can incorporate greener efforts into their everyday lives.

The Long Island Rail Road wants customers to know that a number of changes to little-used ticketing procedures that have faded in popularity are taking effect at the beginning of October. Most of the changes were previously announced when they were approved by the MTA Board in July.

New timetables are coming to Metro-North’s New Haven Line and Harlem Line on Sunday, October 4, and to the Hudson Line on Saturday, October 3. On the New Haven Line, Metro-North is creating a better morning rush hour connection to Greenwich for Shore Line East customers. On the Hudson Line, weekend track work will mean special timetables for seven weekends. Customers on all three lines should look for other, minor scheduling changes.

Starting Sunday, October 4, MTA New York City Transit’s popular MTA Bus Time™ service will offer a new feature that provides time-based bus arrival estimates in addition to distance-based information at any given stop citywide, allowing customers to see when their bus will arrive and to help them plan their trips more efficiently.
