Once again this holiday season, the MTA will offer nostalgia lovers the opportunity to the ride back into the past with rides on vintage buses and subway trains. There’s no better way to get around while doing your holiday shopping! Dating back to the early part of last century, the Nostalgia Train is made up of subway cars in service along the lettered lines between the early1930s to the mid-1970s. Equipped with ceiling fans, padded seats and incandescent light bulbs, the R/1 through R/9 cars served the IND and later some BMT lines. Customers will have the opportunity to hop on board as it operates along the Sixth Avenue [M] Line.

The Verrazano-Narrows Bridge was the last major bridge built by the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority (TBTA) and the last major bridge built in New York City. When it opened on November 21, 1964, its 4,260-foot main suspension span was the world’s longest. Its construction completed the regional highway system and became a catalyst for the rapid development of Staten Island and Northern New Jersey.

Taking the  at Hunts Point Av station is now fully accessible for disabled riders. Customers can now use three new ADA-accessible elevators to reach the platforms from the street level to both northbound and southbound platforms. The elevators went into service today and make the Hunts Point Av  station the 11th ADA Key Station in the Bronx and the 84th ADA Key Station system-wide.
