LIRR customers should expect eastbound cancellations and delays of up to 1 hour due to a truck striking an LIRR bridge west of Woodside. Customers for Far Rockaway, Long Beach and Hempstead Branches can take the 2/3 subway from 34th Street to Atlantic Terminal, where eastbound LIRR train service is available. NYC Transit is cross-honoring. NYC Transit is also honoring LIRR fares on the E subway train to Penn at Jamaica (Sutphin Blvd-Archer Av), Kew Gardens (Union Tpke) and Forest Hills (71st Av).
On Monday, July 4, subways will operate on a Saturday schedule. There will be no [5] train service in Brooklyn, and no [6][7] express service. [B] trains will not run, customers are encouraged to use the [A][C][D] and/or [Q] instead. [M] trains will not run between Delancey-Essex Sts and 71 Ave; [Q] service is suspended between 57 St-7Av and Ditmars Blvd; and [Z] service is suspended, take the [J] instead.
Metro-North Railroad will have lots of extra service on Friday, July 1, to help those who want to get a jump start on the long weekend, with 17 extra "getaway" departures from Grand Central Terminal between 1 p.m. and 4:11 p.m. To allow for the service, certain departures from Grand Central Terminal later that evening will be combined or cancelled.

Aside from its beauty and accessibility, Fulton Center has another feature to be proud of. On Tuesday, MTA officials joined representatives from the US Green Building Council (USGBC) to unveil a plaque honoring the Fulton Center as the first New York City subway hub to receive a LEED® rating for sustainability and design.
Metro-North continues to set safety standards for the railroad industry as it has received the highest safety award from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA). The commendation, known as the Gold Award for Safety, was given to Metro-North for developing a state-of-the art employee protection system that other railroads could consider replicating. The system, known as the Enhanced Employee Protection System (EEPS), was implemented in 2014. It adds a layer of protection for employees who work along and near railroad tracks, further enhancing the railroad’s efforts to safeguard against worker injuries and fatalities.

MTA New York City Transit today announced it will extend late night [R] service to lower Manhattan in order to improve subway connectivity for customers traveling between Manhattan and the southwestern end of Brooklyn. Late night [R] service currently operates as a shuttle between Bay Ridge-95 St and 36 St in Brooklyn. Customers coming from Bay Ridge and Sunset Park must transfer between the [R] shuttle and [D] [N] trains in order to travel to other parts of Brooklyn and Manhattan. The proposed service extension would shift the northern final stop of the late-night [R] shuttle from 36 St to Whitehall St-South Ferry.
It's Metro-North with the Bronze! The Railroad announced on Wednesday that it accepted an award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers for the 1906 electrification of Grand Central Terminal. The award, known as the IEEE Milestone in Electrical Engineering and Computing, is a bronze plaque to be mounted on a wall at Grand Central Terminal. It was presented to Joseph Giulietti, President of Metro-North, by IEEE Past President, Dr. Howard Michel, at a ceremony at the Terminal

The 148th running of the Belmont Stakes is this coming Saturday, June 11, but the only sure thing about the big race is that the MTA Long Island Rail Road is the best way to get to Belmont Park. Coming off a stellar performance at last year’s Belmont Stakes when the LIRR moved more than 50,000 customers in and out of a newly modernized Belmont Park Station in record time, the nation’s busiest commuter rail line is once again primed and ready for the big event.

Ten new peregrine falcon chicks with a unique nursery that includes an awesome 360-degree view of the city skyline were recently banded at the Verrazano-Narrows, Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial and Throgs Neck Bridges. The 2016 newcomers include two boys and one girl 693-feet atop the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge’s Brooklyn tower; one boy and three girls 215-feet atop the Rockaway tower at Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge; and two boys and one girl 360-feet atop the Bronx tower at the Throgs Neck Bridge. MTA Arts & Design has invited the more than two dozen groups and performers to join the Music Under New York program (MTA MUSIC) following a competitive applications process and auditions that were held in May.
The MTA’s Weekender: The Way Around Weekend Work for May 27 - May 30
Memorial Day is coming on Monday, May 30, which means the MTA will add extra LIRR, Metro-North trains on Friday, May 27, to help New Yorkers get an early start on the long three-day weekend. MTA Staten Island Railway will operate its Early Departure Get Away schedule on Friday, May 27. This schedule means extra SIR trains will be added earlier in the afternoon beginning at 2:30 p.m. from the St. George Ferry Terminal. There will be one express train and one local train awaiting every boat until 7:50 p.m.
MTA Long Island Rail Road will provide 10 additional early-afternoon trains from Penn Station on Friday, May 27, for customers planning an early start to the Memorial Day Weekend. The LIRR will operate on a regular weekend schedule on Saturday and Sunday and on a holiday schedule on Memorial Day.
