MTA Metro-North Railroad is rebuilding the Prospect Hill Road Bridge in Southeast through a $9.5 million investment made possible by the MTA’s 2015-2019 Capital Program. The 270-foot-long bridge, which was built in 1910, is located just south of the Southeast station; it carries Prospect Hill Road over the Harlem Line tracks and parts of Metro-North’s Brewster Yard.

LIRR customers can anticipate delays and cancelations this evening due to an Amtrak power problem in one of the East River tunnels. All westbound service to Penn is suspended. NYC Transit is cross-honoring tickets on the [E] train at Sutphin/Archer, Union Turnpike, 71st Ave. and Penn Station, as well as on the  train at 61st St., Woodside, & between Penn Station and Atlantic Terminal on the  trains. Customers can take the subway to Atlantic Terminal for additional service to Jamaica.

Metro-North employees are all heart! MTA Metro-North Railroad recognized five employees for saving a colleague who suffered a heart attack at the railroad’s Brewster Yard last month. Metro-North President Joseph Giulietti thanked the employees for their swift thinking and compassion at today’s meeting of the MTA Board’s Metro-North Railroad Committee.

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo has announced the completion of the environmental impact study for the proposed LIRR expansion project – one of New York's greatest efforts to increase capacity of the commuter railroad since it was first built in the mid-19th century. The Final Environmental Impact Statement confirms the expansion project will improve LIRR service, reliability, and safety, for both residents and commuters on Long Island.

Because Amtrak crews did not finish track repair work by 4 a.m. as promised and because they did not grant access to tracks overnight so that Long Island Rail Road could pre-position trains, LIRR is forced to once again operate a reduced morning rush-hour schedule this morning, which impacts 14 trains. The LIRR normally operates 144 morning rush hours train, 98 of which go to Penn Station. For details see Service Status at left.

As Amtrak crews continue to repair track damage at Penn Station, the Long Island Rail Road must operate a reduced PM rush hour schedule, which includes 16 trains canceled from Penn Station between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., and eight others diverted to originate elsewhere.

As Amtrak crews continue repairing track damage at Penn Station, the Long Island Rail Road must cancel 10 trains to Penn Station between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m., terminate three trains at Jamaica, and divert one train to Hunterspoint Avenue, Queens, because of reduced tracks available by Amtrak. New York City Transit will cross-honor LIRR tickets at Jamaica, Atlantic Terminal and Hunterspoint Avenue.
