Lift Tests at RFK Bridge Manhattan Span Scheduled for Early Morning of Feb. 20 and 21

Intermittent, full closures of the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge’s Harlem River Lift Span to/from Manhattan are scheduled during early morning hours on Thursday, Feb. 20, and Friday, Feb. 21, from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. for testing of the lifting mechanism of the bridge.

Each closure lasts approximately 20 minutes. Motorists should allow for additional travel time or consider an alternate route.

Crews from MTA Bridges and Tunnels today replaced the first of 19 signs on agency property to feature the revised spelling of the bridge’s name, incorporating an additional ‘z’ in the name Verrazzano.

MTA Bridges and Tunnels Receives Engineering Excellence Award for Reconstruction of the Morris Street Pedestrian Overpass

MTA Bridges and Tunnels is pleased to announce that the Morris Street Pedestrian Overpass Reconstruction project has been awarded the 2020 Engineering Excellence Award in the category of Special Projects from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). The Morris Street Pedestrian Overpass, which stretches across the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel’s Manhattan plaza, was closed for demolition in July 2017 and replaced by a new and improved bridge structure that was reopened to the public in December of 2017.

Henry Hudson Bridge Early Morning Lower Level Closures Nov. 19 - 23, 2019

As part of the ongoing work to rehabilitate the lower level roadway of the Henry Hudson Bridge, overnight (technically early morning) lower level full closures will be necessary on Tuesday, Nov. 19 through Saturday, Nov. 23. The southbound (to Manhattan) closures will start at 12:01 a.m. and go through to 5:00 a.m. A detour will be in place to route drivers around these closures.

RFK Bridge Harlem River Lift Span Full Closures for Scheduled Testing

Full closures of the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge’s Harlem River Lift Span are scheduled during weekday early morning hours from Tuesday, November 5, through Friday morning November 22, from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. for testing of the lifting mechanism of the bridge. There will be no closures on weekends.

Signage will be in place to guide motorists to the detour, but motorists should allow for additional travel time or consider an alternate route.
