Henry Hudson Bridge Milling and Paving Work Tuesday, Sept. 22

To accommodate a roadway milling and paving operation at the Henry Hudson Bridge, the lower level southbound, to Manhattan, will be closed during the early morning hours on Tuesday, Sept. 22. The southbound closure will start at 12:01 a.m. and go through to 5:00 a.m. The northbound upper level, to the Bronx, remains open as normal.

MTA Adds Third Brooklyn-Bound Lane at Hugh L. Carey Tunnel; Expected to Shorten Bus Customers’ Commutes and Reduce PM Congestion

MTA Bridges and Tunnels today announced that the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel will resume operating three Brooklyn-bound lanes during the weekday afternoon/evening peak travel periods resulting in better traffic flow and shorter commutes for MTA bus customers and motorists. On Monday, Sept. 14, both tubes of the tunnel will carry traffic from Manhattan to Brooklyn between the hours of 4:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Two-way operations in the West Tube were paused during the height of the pandemic, but have resumed due to the recent increase in traffic around the southern horn of Manhattan.

MTA Bridges and Tunnels and MTA Construction & Development have completed a tower pedestal restoration project at the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge three months ahead of schedule and under budget. The work involved restoration of the pedestals and foundations at the Brooklyn and Staten Island towers of the bridge.

To accommodate roadway milling and paving operation at the Throgs Neck Bridge, up to two Queens-bound lanes will be closed this weekend starting Friday, Aug. 7, at 10 p.m., through Monday, Aug. 10, at 5 a.m. At least one lane will remain open to Queens-bound traffic at all times. Bronx-bound lanes are unaffected.

Lift Tests at RFK Bridge Harlem River Lift Span Scheduled for Early Morning 7/24

MTA Bridges and Tunnels today announced that intermittent, full closures at the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge’s Harlem River Lift Span are scheduled on Friday, July 24 from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. for maintenance work.

Each closure lasts approximately 20 minutes. Motorists may experience delays and should consider an alternate route.
