RFK Bridge Harlem River Lift Span Full Closure for Scheduled Testing

A full closure of the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge’s Harlem River Lift Span is scheduled on Friday, May 17, from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. for testing of the lifting mechanism of the bridge.

Signage will be in place to guide motorists to the detour, but motorists should allow for additional travel time or consider an alternate route.

Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge Staten Island-bound Lower Level Closure for Annual Five Boro Bike Tour

The Staten Island-bound lower level of the Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge will be closed from 12:01 a.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, May 5 for the annual TD Five Boro Bike Tour. The upper level of the bridge will remain open in both directions throughout the event.

Marine Parkway Bridge Closed Overnight: April 22- May 1

The Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge will be closed to traffic in both directions during overnight hours from Monday, April 22, through Wednesday morning, May 1. There will be no closures on Saturday or Sunday nights. During this time, all traffic will be detoured to the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m., including the Q35 bus. The closures are needed to dismantle and remove protective shielding that was in place for the lift upgrade work, and to perform necessary mechanical maintenance work on the bridge. The MTA’s Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority (TBTA) has issued a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEI) for the Central Business District Tolling Program. This request is an invitation to all firms to officially express their interest with TBTA, and indicate their willingness to respond to a future Request for Proposal (RFP). Through this process, the TBTA aims to draw a wide array of interest from multiple entities, including new partners, to ultimately ensure that the selection of a contractor is as competitive as possible, providing the best possible solutions.

Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge Ramp and Lane Closures for Roadway Work: Starts Feb. 26th Detour Signage Will Direct Motorists

In order to accommodate necessary roadway joint, pavement and barrier replacement on the bridge’s main span and the five Rockaway ramps, the Cross Bay Bridge will be implementing staged roadway lane and ramp closures starting Tuesday, February 26, 2019, following the morning rush hour. The work will continue through the Spring, with signed detours in place to direct customers and local bus service.

The Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge will be closed to traffic in both directions during overnight hours on weekdays from Monday, February 4, through Wednesday morning, February 6, and again from Monday, February 25 through Thursday morning, February 28. During this time, all traffic will be detoured to the Cross-Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge between 11:59 p.m. and 5 a.m., including the Q35 bus. The closures are necessary for biennial inspection. One Lane Closed on the Bronx to Manhattan Ramp of the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge

Starting Friday, October 26th at the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, one lane will be closed on the RFK Bronx to Manhattan ramp to accommodate a roadway deck replacement project on the former toll plaza area.

The rehabilitation work will take place over three stages and will include the removal and replacement of selected areas of the roadway deck and the replacement of existing roadway joints. This project is anticipated to be completed by Spring 2020 and will create a smoother riding surface for motorists.
