Lift Tests at RFK Bridge Harlem River Lift Span Scheduled for Early Morning 7/9 and 7/10

MTA Bridges and Tunnels today announced that intermittent, full closures at the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge’s Harlem River Lift Span are scheduled on Thursday, July 9 and Friday, July 10, from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. for maintenance work.

Each closure lasts approximately 20 minutes. Motorists may experience delays and should consider an alternate route.

MTA Bridges and Tunnels Completes Traffic Safety Improvements at Bronx-Whitestone Bridge Four Weeks Ahead of Schedule

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced completion of construction to improve traffic flow and safety for motorists accessing southbound roadways from the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge four weeks ahead of schedule. The new design provides improved access to the Whitestone Expressway and Cross Island Parkway, a full-width right shoulder, new guide rails, a new LED roadway lighting system, and a new overhead sign structure.

Henry Hudson Bridge Milling and Paving Work Wednesday, June 17

To accommodate a roadway milling and paving operation at the Henry Hudson Bridge, the lower level southbound, towards Manhattan, will be closed during the early morning hours on Wednesday, June 17. The southbound closure will start at 12:01 a.m. and go through to 5:00 a.m. Prior to this, there will be lane closures northbound, towards the Bronx, which will maintain one traffic lane at all times.

MTA Bridges and Tunnels Takes Advantage of Reduced Traffic to Test Tunnel Flood Gates

MTA Bridges and Tunnels today announced it is taking advantage of reduced traffic volumes to ready its tunnel flood mitigation infrastructure for this year’s hurricane season, which runs from June through November. The MTA has started test deployments of flood gates and other mitigation measures at the Queens-Midtown Tunnel and Hugh L. Carey Tunnel (formerly Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel).

Intermittent, full closures of the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge’s Harlem River Lift Span to/from Manhattan are scheduled during early morning hours on Thursday, Feb. 20, and Friday, Feb. 21, from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. for testing of the lifting mechanism of the bridge.
