Hugh L. Carey Tunnel One Tube Closed 4 AM Until Noon Saturday

One tube at the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel will be closed between 4 a.m. and Noon on Saturday, Feb. 21 for repair work related to Superstorm Sandy.

The remaining tube will have one lane heading into Manhattan and one lane into Brooklyn. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use an alternate route if possible.

New Traffic Pattern In Place Manhattan-bound Henry Hudson Bridge Beginning Tues., Feb. 24

One Manhattan-bound lane at the Henry Hudson Bridge will be closed to traffic for approximately a month beginning Tues., Feb. 24.

Motorists driving on the two-lane Henry Hudson Parkway will continue across the length of the bridge using the center and right lanes.

Contractor P.J. Scariano will be relocating a water main near the toll plaza. The work is expected to be completed in about four weeks. All work is dependent on good weather.

Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge Closed To All Traffic Tuesday Night Into Early Wednesday

The Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge will be closed to all traffic beginning Tues., Feb. 3 at 11:59 p.m. until 4 a.m. Wed., Feb 4 for necessary maintenance.

Detour signs will be in place. Motorists who normally use the bridge during this time must use the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge instead.

Crews will be performing maintenance work and multiple test lifts during this time.

CANCELED: Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge Closed To All Traffic Tuesday Night Into Early Wednesday

The Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge will be closed to all traffic beginning Tues., Jan. 27 at 11:59 p.m. until 3 a.m. Wed., Jan. 28 for necessary maintenance.

Detour signs will be in place. Motorists who normally use the bridge during this time must use the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge instead.

There will be multiple, intermittent closures at the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge’s Harlem River Lift Span in both directions on Mon, Jan. 26 between 12:01 a.m. and 5 a.m. for maintenance work.

Motorists should expect delays and use an alternate route if possible. Each closure is expected to last up to approximately 20 minutes.

Motorists are advised there will be multiple, intermittent lifts at the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge on Wed., Jan. 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for necessary maintenance work.

Each lift will last approximately 15 minutes. Motorists will experience some delays and should use the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge as an alternate route.

Hugh L Carey Tunnel One Tube Closed Friday Night

One tube at the Hugh L Carey Tunnel will be closed to traffic this Friday night into Saturday morning for removal of ceiling tiles damaged during Superstorm Sandy.

The closure will begin 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16 and last through 5 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17. The remaining tube will have one lane operating in each direction during this time.

Motorists may experience delays, and may want to consider using an alternate route.

Line Of Duty Funeral Planned To Honor MTA Bridge and Tunnel Officer Thomas Choi

MTA Bridge and Tunnel Officer Thomas Choi will be honored with a full, line of duty funeral to be held next week Thursday, Jan. 8 and Friday, Jan. 9. Officer Choi, who was critically injured by a vehicle while reopening a roadway at the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge in October 2013, passed away on Monday after remaining in a coma for 14 months.

Officer Choi, 62, an 11-year veteran of the agency, became the first Bridge and Tunnel Officer to die in the line of duty in the 81-year history of MTA Bridges and Tunnels, which is formally known as the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority.

MTA Bridges and Tunnels Officer Succumbs to Injuries Suffered In 2013 Collision at Verrazano-Narrows Bridge

It is with great sadness that the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announces that MTA Bridges and Tunnels Officer Thomas Choi has succumbed to injuries suffered in an Oct. 20, 2013 collision at the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.

Officer Choi is the first Bridge and Tunnel Officer to die in the line of duty in the 81-year history of MTA Bridges and Tunnels, which is formally known as the Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority.
