*Postponed* Verrazano-Narrows Bridge Upper Level Eastbound Closure Dec. 29

 

The repaving work planned for Thursday, December 29 on the Eastbound Upper Level of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge has been postponed to a date yet to be determined. The scheduled closure of the Eastbound Upper Level from 8:30am – 2:30pm will not take place. The weather forecast calls for conditions that will not accommodate this work.

RFK Bridge North Walkway from E.126th St to Randall’s Island Reopens 12/22; RFK Bridge E.125 St Entrance Ramp to Reopen 12/29/16; South Walkway from East 124th St to RI Closed for Construction
Effective 12/22/16, the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge Harlem River span north side pedestrian path between Manhattan and Randall’s Island will reopen to the public.  The walkway had been closed during reconstruction of the bridge’s East 125th Street exit ramp, while the South Walkway remained open. Pedestrians can enter or exit the North Walkway from E 126th Street and 2nd Avenue.

Governor Cuomo Announces Open Road Tolling to be Completed on all MTA Bridges and Tunnels in 2017

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced high-speed open road, cashless tolling will be completed on all MTA-operated bridges and tunnels in the New York metropolitan region by the end of 2017, with automatic tolling beginning at the Hugh L. Carey and Queens Midtown Tunnels next month. The state will also deploy 150 State Troopers beginning in January at MTA bridges and tunnels to enhance security at key checkpoints, bolster counter-terrorism efforts and hold scofflaws accountable.

Rockaway-bound Marine Parkway Bridge Overnight Closures Extended From Dec. 19-22

The Rockaway-bound (south) side of the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge will continue to be closed to traffic during overnight hours each night from Monday, Dec. 19 through Thursday morning, Dec. 22, in order to conduct a crane operation on the North Tower. Inclement weather has forced the extension of this project. The closures will not be in effect on Saturday and Sunday nights.

Henry Hudson Bridge Lower Level Lane Closures Start Dec. 9, 2016

The lower level southbound (Manhattan bound) bridge roadway and toll plaza at the Henry Hudson Bridge will be reduced to one lane during night-time off-peak hours beginning Friday, December 9, 2016. The closures will continue Monday through Friday nights starting 12/12/16. These lane reductions will be in affect from 9 PM to 5 AM.  All lanes will be open for morning rush hours.

*REMINDER* Queens Midtown Tunnel Ongoing Superstorm Sandy Repairs: One Tube Closed Every Weekend

One tube of the Queens Midtown Tunnel will continue to be closed every weekend, starting Friday nights, from 11:00 p.m. through Monday mornings at 5:30 a.m., to accommodate ongoing Superstorm Sandy restoration work.  One lane in each direction will always remain open in the other tube during periods when one tube is closed.

The Rockaway-bound (south) side of the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge will be closed to traffic during overnight hours each night from Monday, Dec. 12 through Saturday morning, Dec. 17, in order to conduct a crane operation on the North Tower.

All south-bound traffic will be detoured to the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.  Note: The exception is Q35 bus, which will maintain normal route under facility escort.

Cross Bay Bridge Southbound Lane Closures Begin Monday November 28

Two out of three southbound (to Rockaway) lanes on the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge will be closed around-the-clock on weekdays starting the week of November 28, for approximately three weeks with the exception of weekends. One southbound lane remains open at all times.

The closures are necessary to allow for roadway joint repairs. Motorists should expect delays in the Rockaway-bound direction and plan accordingly.

*REVISED* Intermittent Closures of the Marine Park Bridge for Necessary Maintenance Work is Now Scheduled for Tuesday, November 22

Intermittent, full closures at the Marine Park Bridge are scheduled on Tuesday, November 22, from 11:00 p.m. to 5 a.m. Wednesday, November 23, for maintenance work.

Each closure lasts approximately 20 minutes. Motorists may experience delays and should consider an alternate route.
