Verrazano-Narrows Bridge Planned Upper Level Closures

The westbound upper level of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge will be closed Monday night into Tuesday morning and there will be a full closure of the upper level of the bridge in both directions Tuesday night into Wednesday for the continued removal of steel sign gantries.

Motorists will be able to use the lower level of the bridge, which will remain fully open while this work is done.

RFK Bridge Harlem River Lift Span Intermittent Closures Friday, June 27

There will be multiple, intermittent closures for maintenance work at the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge’s Harlem River Lift Span Fri., June 27 from 12:01 a.m. and 5 a.m. for maintenance work.

All work is dependent on good weather.

Motorists should expect delays and use an alternate route if possible. Each closure is expected to last between 15 and 20 minutes.

One Tube Closed This Weekend At Hugh L. Carey Tunnel

One tube at the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel will be closed from 9 p.m. Fri., June 27 through 5 a.m. Mon., June 30 as part of the project to replace the tunnel’s original 1950s-era electrical switches and feeder cables.

The remaining tube will have one lane heading into Manhattan and one lane into Brooklyn. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use an alternate route if possible.

Verrazano-Narrows Bridge Upper Level Closures Planned Next Week
There will be full and partial closures of the upper level of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge for the removal and installation of new steel sign gantries during overnight hours from June 23 through June 28. 
The upper level of the bridge will be fully closed three nights during overnight hours. Motorists will be able to use the lower level of the bridge while this work is done. Vehicles carrying hazardous materials will not be permitted to cross during full, upper level closures and must use alternate routes.

Verrazano-Narrows Bridge New Lower Level Ramp Opens

MTA Bridges and Tunnels today opened the first new ramp added to the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge since the bridge’s original 1960s construction. The new, two-lane lower level connector ramp from the Staten Island Expressway heading to Brooklyn is part of the $50 million toll plaza improvement project.

Throgs Neck Bridge Lanes Closed Overnight For Seven Weekends

Up to two of three Queensbound lanes at the Throgs Neck Bridge will be closed during overnight hours for a total of seven weekends this summer in order to replace 90,000-square-feet of binder and asphalt overlay.

Beginning the weekend of June 20-23, one Queens-bound lane will be closed from the Bronx toll plaza south to the Bronx Anchorage of the bridge from 10 p.m. Friday through 5 a.m. Monday. During daytime hours on the weekend two lanes to Queens will remain open.

RFK Bridge’s Randall’s Island Ramp Partial Closure For Three Weeks
Beginning Mon., June 16 and lasting approximately three weeks, the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge ramp that leads onto Randall’s Island from the Manhattan plaza will become an exit only ramp while joint repair work is completed. 
Cars and buses heading to the island from Manhattan will be detoured onto the Randall’s Island/Ward’s Island ramp, about a quarter-mile past the Manhattan toll plaza heading to Queens. This ramp will put motorists on the Ward’s side of the island.

Tonight’s Work Canceled Due to Weather Concerns:
Two of three southbound lanes at the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge heading into Queens will be closed overnight on two nights next week for the installation of new steel girders.
The work, which is part of the $109 million Queens approach rehabilitation and reconstruction project, will take place between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. Mon., June 2-Tues., June 3 and Tues., June 3-Wed., June 4. All work is dependent on good weather.

Throgs Neck Bridge 2 Queens-bound Lanes Closed Overnight Six to Eight Nights
Two of three southbound lanes at the Throgs Neck Bridge heading into Queens will be closed nightly for six to eight nights beginning Wed., June 4 for milling and repaving work. There will not be any work on Saturday or Sunday.
The two lanes will be closed nightly between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. All work is dependent upon good weather. 
Motorists should expect delays. Drivers are urged to use the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge as an alternate route.
