Queens Midtown Tunnel Queens-bound Tube Closed This Weekend

The Queens-bound (south) tube at the Queens Midtown Tunnel will be closed to traffic from 10:30 p.m. Friday, June 12 through 5:30 a.m. Monday, June 15 for removal of ceiling panels damaged during Superstorm Sandy.

Motorists should allow extra travel time and use an alternate route if possible.

The work requires a total of six, non-consecutive weekend-long tube closures of the Queens-bound tube. This is the third weekend closure.

Hugh L Carey Tunnel Tube Closed This Weekend

One tube at the Hugh L Carey Tunnel will be closed to traffic beginning 9:30 p.m. Friday, June 12 through 5:30 a.m. Monday, June 15 as part of the four-year, $282.5 million contract for Sandy restoration, repair and resiliency work.

Two-way traffic will be in effect in the remaining tube. Motorists should allow extra travel time and use an alternate route if possible.

RFK Bridge Harlem River Lift Span Full Closure

There will be a full closure of the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge’s Harlem River Lift Span on Fri., June 12 between 12:01 a.m. and 5 a.m. for a biennial inspection.

Motorists should use an alternate route and allow extra travel time.

Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge Will Be Closed Overnight June 18-19

The Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge will be fully closed to traffic from 11 p.m. Thurs., June 18 until 5 a.m. Fri., June 19. All traffic will be detoured to the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge during these hours.

Electronic signs will be placed along the Belt Parkway and Flatbush Avenue in Brooklyn and along Rockaway Point Boulevard and Beach Channel Drive in the Rockaways, notifying motorists to use the Cross Bay Veterans Bridge.

Bronx-Whitestone Queens Approach Reconstruction Project Completed With Reopening of Third Avenue Exit

MTA Bridges and Tunnels said Friday that the Third Avenue exit, which had been closed to allow for construction since January 2013, is now open with only minor work remaining at the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge Queens approach. The $109 million Capital project to reconstruct and rehabilitate the approach roadway and its supporting structure reached substantial completion on schedule this past January.

MTA E-ZPass Reaches Major Milestone With Half-Million E-ZPass On-the-Go Tags Sold

Sales of MTA Bridges and Tunnels' popular On-the-Go tags in cash lanes reached a major milestone with the purchase of the 500,000th tag since the program began in 2011, as new signs at toll plazas showing the substantial discounts available for E-ZPass customers have spurred sales of the popular tags. “This shows that efforts to get people to switch to E-ZPass and maximize their toll dollars are working,” said MTA Bridges President James Ferrara.
