MTA Bridges and Tunnels Suspends Routine Construction for Thanksgiving Holiday

To ease travel for its customers this Thanksgiving, routine maintenance and temporary construction work at all MTA Bridges and Tunnels crossings will be suspended beginning Noon on Wed., Nov. 23rd until early Monday morning, Nov. 28th.

Special Traffic Advisory: Reminder Weekend-Long Tube Closure At Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel Fri., Nov. 18th At 10 PM Through Mon., Nov. 21st  At 5 AM

One tube (2 lanes) at the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel will be closed throughout the weekend as part of the $43.5 million project to replace 1950s-era electrical switches and feeder cables. Two-way traffic will be maintained in the open tube, with one lane in each direction.

The closure will take place from 10 p.m. on Friday through 5 a.m. on Monday. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use an alternate route.

Verrazano-Narrows Workers Ready Bridge For Annual ING NYC Marathon

With the annual ING NYC Marathon approaching, teams of managers and workers at the Verrazano-Narrows are going over the bridge with a fine tooth comb, smoothing roadway surfaces, cleaning roadway debris and filling in errant potholes to make sure it's smooth sailing for the more than 47,000 runners that will cross the bridge at the start of the 26.2 mile race this Sunday.

Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel Getting A $43.5 Million Electrical Upgrade To Replace 1950's Era Equipment

A $43.5 million Capital Improvement project to replace 1950s-era electrical switches and feeder cables at the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel is set to begin in November. It will require 21 weekend-long tube closures resulting in one tube (2 lanes) being closed. Two-way traffic will be maintained in the open tube, with one lane in each direction.

Special Traffic Advisory RFK Bronx-Bound Bronx Approach Roadway Two Lanes Closed Thurs., Nov. 3 and Fri., Nov. 4th Between 10 AM and 3 PM For Concrete Work

As a result of continuing Capital improvement construction work at the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, motorists using the Bronx-bound roadway approaching the Bronx toll plaza may experience delays while concrete work is performed Thursday, Nov. 3rd and Friday, Nov. 4th between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

Two out of three lanes will be closed at the Bronx-bound Bronx toll plaza approach roadway during these off-peak hours. One roadway will remain open.

Motorists may wish to use an alternate route, if possible, while the work is completed.
