New Harlem River Drive Ramp To MTA Bridges and Tunnels' RFK Bridge Opens Ahead Of Schedule

The newly constructed $9 million ramp from the Harlem River Drive southbound leading onto the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge was reopened to traffic on Monday, Dec. 19th thanks to a fast track contract delivery method used by MTA Bridges and Tunnels for the first time on a major infrastructure project. The work was completed ahead of schedule and executed with minimal impact to motorists.

WORK CANCELED:^Special Traffic Advisory Robert F. Kennedy Bridge's Harlem Lift Span Closed To All Traffic From 1 AM To 3 AM On Thurs., Dec. 15th For Necessary Maintenance Work

The following work has been canceled and will be rescheduled.

Motorists are advised that Robert F. Kennedy Bridge's Harlem River Lift Span will be closed to all traffic between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. on Thurs., Dec. 15th for necessary maintenance work.

Drivers should use the Willis Avenue Bridge as an alternate during this closure.

The work includes removing the motor that operates the Lift Span in order to replace bearings.

SPECIAL TRAFFIC ADVISORY Brief Detour for Manhattan- and Brooklyn-bound Drivers Exiting Verrazano-Narrows Bridge From 12:30 AM To 5 AM, Sun., Dec. 11th

Motorists driving into Manhattan or Brooklyn using the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge will be diverted to the 92nd Street exit ramp while a portion of the Gowanus Expressway just off the bridge is closed for the removal of an electronic sign beginning Sun., Dec. 11th at 12:30 a.m. through 5 a.m.

All traffic exiting the bridge will be diverted to the 92nd Street exit. Drivers will stay on the service road a short distance and will re-enter the Expressway at 86th Street.

SPECIAL TRAFFIC ADVISORY Trinity Place Exit Closure at Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel Fri., Dec. 9th from 9 PM to 5 AM, Sat., Dec. 10th

Motorists driving into Manhattan from Brooklyn using the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel will not be able to access the Trinity Place exit due to paving work by the NYC Department of Transportation.

The closure will be in effect: Fri., 12/9 from 9 PM through Sat., 12/10 until 5 AM.

Motorists exiting the tunnel in Manhattan will be diverted to West Street exits for alternate access to lower Manhattan.

MTA's Scenic Henry Hudson Bridge Celebrating 75 Years

The Henry Hudson Bridge, connecting the northern tip of Manhattan to the Riverdale section of the Bronx, turns 75 on Monday, Dec. 12th and will celebrate with the opening of a month-long photo exhibit at the Riverdale Public Library.

Special Traffic Advisory Reminder: Weekend-Long Tube Closure Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel Fri., Dec. 2nd From 10 PM Through Mon., Dec. 5th At 5 AM

One tube (2 lanes) at the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel will be closed throughout the weekend as part of the $43.5 million project to replace 1950s-era electrical switches and feeder cables. Two-way traffic will be maintained in the open tube, with one lane in each direction.

The closure will take place from 10 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 2nd through 5 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 5th. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use an alternate route.

SPECIAL TRAFFIC ADVISORY RFK Bridge Manhattan To Randall's Island Entrance Ramp

Detours will continue to be in place through Friday, Dec. 16th while the ramp leading onto Randall's Island from the Manhattan toll plaza at the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge is repaired. The work was scheduled to be completed this week but more repairs are necessary.

To ease travel for its customers this Thanksgiving, routine maintenance and temporary construction work at all MTA Bridges and Tunnels crossings will be suspended beginning Noon on Wed., Nov. 23rd until early Monday morning, Nov. 28th.
