Traffic from East 125 Street to RFK Bridge On-Ramp at Second Ave Shifts to Temporary Ramp at First Avenue

Beginning Wednesday, February 24, traffic originating from East 125th Street in Harlem seeking access to the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge via the on-ramp at Second Avenue will be detoured onto a temporary access ramp at First Avenue. The detour will allow for staged demolition and reconstruction of the original ramp, which was built in the mid-1930s.

Lift Tests at RFK Bridge Harlem River Lift Span Scheduled for Early Friday

Intermittent, full closures at the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge’s Harlem River Lift Span are scheduled on Friday, February 5, from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. for maintenance work.

Each closure lasts approximately 20 minutes. Motorists may experience delays and should consider an alternate route.

Hugh L Carey Tunnel Tube Closure Friday Overnight, Saturday

One tube at the Hugh L Carey Tunnel will be closed from 9:30 p.m. Friday, January 29, to 5 p.m., Saturday, January 30, as part of a four-year $282.5 million Superstorm Sandy repair project.

One lane will operate in each direction in the remaining tube. Motorists may experience delays. This work is weather dependent and may be canceled in the event of inclement weather.

The repair project includes replacing multiple systems that were damaged during Superstorm Sandy in 2012, such as the traffic control and communications, lighting, drainage pump and fire line systems.

Staten Island-bound Entrance Ramp from Belt Parkway to Verrazano-Narrows Bridge to be Closed Overnight on January 20, 21

The entrance to the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge from the Belt Parkway will be closed overnight from Wednesday, January 20, into Thursday morning, January 21, and again overnight Thursday into Friday morning, January 22. The closures are required for the installation of new girders as part of an $84.3 million project to reconstruct the ramp and build a new bus/HOV ramp. The work is dependent on weather and may be canceled if it rains.

Weeknight Closures of Queens-bound Tube of Queens Midtown Tunnel Begin Tonight for Superstorm Sandy Repairs

Beginning tonight at 10:30 p.m., the Queens-bound (south) tube of the Queens Midtown Tunnel will be closed during weekday overnight hours for approximately 12 weeks of Sandy restoration work. One lane will remain open in each direction in the north tube during these periods.

The closures will take place between 10:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, the closures will take place from 11 p.m. until 8 a.m. Saturday.

The south tube closures may be suspended for certain major holidays and other events.

Starting on Monday night, January 4, 2016, the Queens-bound (south) tube of the Queens Midtown Tunnel will be closed during weekday overnight hours for approximately 12 weeks of Sandy restoration work. One lane will remain open in each direction in the north tube during these periods.

The closures will take place between 10:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, the closures will take place from 11 p.m. until 8 a.m. Saturday.

Verrazano-Narrows Bridge Upper Level Staten Island-bound Closures: Mon., 12/21, 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM

The Staten Island-bound upper level of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge will be closed to traffic Monday, December 21, 2015 between 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. for paving work. The lower level westbound will remain open with three lanes to Staten Island, and there will be no impact to eastbound rush hour traffic.

This off-peak direction closure of the upper level will start at 8:30 a.m. and remain in effect until 3:00 p.m., with the exception that after 10:00 a.m. Belt Parkway traffic will have access to one lane on the westbound upper level.

Between 11 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, and 5 a.m. on Friday, December 18, intermittent 15-minute full closures are planned for the Henry Hudson Bridge and Henry Hudson Parkway (south from Kappock Street exit) in the Manhattan-bound direction.

Governor Cuomo Announces Tougher Toll Violation Enforcement at MTA Bridges and Tunnels

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that Metropolitan Transportation Authority Bridges and Tunnels is set to strengthen toll evasion enforcement at its seven bridges and two tunnels in New York City. This plan aligns with a proposed New York State regulation to suspend the registrations of vehicles that repeatedly evade payment on toll crossings.

Brooklyn-bound Marine Parkway Bridge Closed Overnight Dec. 17-18

The Brooklyn-bound (north) side of the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge will be closed to traffic during overnight hours from Thursday night through Friday morning, Dec. 17-18 for removal of the temporary Rockaway Point Boulevard overpass structure.

All north-bound traffic will be detoured to the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge between 11 p.m. and 5 a.m. nightly.

(Note: The exception is Q35 bus, which will maintain normal route under facility escort).
