Throgs Neck Bridge Weekend Work: Oct. 18-21: Queens-bound lane closures

One Queens-bound lane at the Throgs Neck Bridge will be closed from the toll plaza across bridge beginning 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18 through 5 a.m. Monday, Oct.21 for binder and asphalt replacement work.

An additional Queens-bound lane will be closed during overnight hours. The closures are necessary to accommodate ongoing work to replace 67,000-square-feet of binder and asphalt overlay that has become uneven.

Motorists should use Bronx-Whitestone Bridge or RFK Bridge as an alternate.

REMINDER: One Tube Closed This Weekend at Hugh L. Carey Tunnel

One tube at the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel will be closed this weekend from 9 p.m. Fri., Oct. 18 through 5 a.m. Mon., Oct. 21 as part of the project to replace the tunnel’s original 1950s-era electrical switches and feeder cables.

The remaining tube will have one lane heading into Manhattan and one lane into Brooklyn. Motorists are advised to expect delays and use an alternate route if possible.

One Lane Closed Queens-bound Throgs Neck Bridge Through Wed., Oct. 9

One Queens-bound lane at the Throgs Neck Bridge will remain closed around-the-clock at least through Wed., Oct. 9 for binder and asphalt replacement work that could not be completed over the weekend due to inclement weather.

Motorists may experience delays and should consider using the Bronx-Whitestone or Robert F. Kennedy Bridges as an alternate route.

The closure is necessary to accommodate ongoing work to replace 67,000-square-feet of binder and asphalt overlay that has become uneven.

Traffic Diverted at Three MTA Crossings Sunday for Bike MS 2013

The Bike MS 2013 event on Sunday, Oct. 6 will impact motorists who normally use the MTA’s Robert F. Kennedy Bridge, Henry Hudson Bridge and Hugh L. Carey Tunnel. Motorists should be aware of the closures and use alternate routes if possible.

 Henry Hudson Bridge

7 a.m. to Noon: The Henry Hudson Parkway from the Mosholu Parkway to the bridge and Dyckman Street south to Battery Park via the West Side Highway will be closed and drivers will not be able to access the bridge.

Bronx-Whitestone Bridge Queens Approach Project Shifts Lanes

A modified traffic pattern on the Queens side of the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge will be in place beginning Saturday, Oct. 5 as work continues on the $109 million Queens approach reconstruction and rehabilitation project.

The change will move the work zone over one lane to allow contractors to begin working on another section of the Queens approach roadway. A moveable barrier will continue to be used to maximize lane capacity during peak driving times with three lanes heading into the Bronx in the morning and three lanes into Queens in the afternoon and on weekends.

Hugh L. Carey Tunnel Closed Several Hours Sun., Sept. 29 for the Annual Stephen Siller Tunnels to Towers Run

The Hugh L. Carey (formerly Brooklyn-Battery) Tunnel will be closed several hours on Sunday, Sept., 29 for the annual Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Run, commemorating the FDNY firefighter’s run through the tunnel to the World Trade Center on 9/11.

Motorists are advised to use an alternate route.

One tube will be closed 10 p.m. Sat., Sept. 28 through 3 p.m. on Sunday.  The remaining tube will carry one lane of traffic in each direction until 8 a.m., Sunday when both tubes will close for the event.

New Lily Pond Ramp to Brooklyn-bound Verrazano-Narrows Bridge Opens

MTA Bridges and Tunnels announced that the new Lily Pond entrance ramp leading to the Brooklyn-bound Verrazano-Narrows Bridge opened to traffic on Tuesday as part of the ongoing work to improve the ramps and approaches for Staten Island drivers.

RFK Bridge Harlem River Lift Span Intermittent Closures Overnight Friday, Sept. 20

The Robert F. Kennedy Bridge's Harlem River Lift Span will have intermittent closures of up to 20 minutes Fri., Sept. 20 between 12:01 a.m. and 5 a.m. while maintenance and biennial inspections are done.

Motorists may experience delays and should use an alternate route.
