Lift Tests at RFK Bridge Harlem River Lift Span Scheduled for Early Monday

Intermittent, full closures at the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge’s Harlem River Lift Span are scheduled on Monday, April 10, from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. for maintenance work.

Each closure lasts approximately 20 minutes. Motorists may experience delays and should consider an alternate route.

Traffic Pattern Shift at Verrazano-Narrows Bridge Staten Island-bound Toll Plaza

Starting this weekend, a change in traffic pattern will be in place on the westbound (to Staten Island) toll plaza coming off the Upper and Lower Levels of the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. The change is necessary to accommodate the next stage of work for installation of the Cashless Tolling structures and associated systems.

As with the previous stage, several toll lanes will be closed at a time to accommodate the work zone activity. All lanes on the upper and lower levels of the bridge itself will be maintained during peak hours.

Bronx-Whitestone Bridge Toll Plaza Weekend Lane Closures Start April 7th

One lane in each direction, northbound and southbound, will be closed at the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, immediately south of the toll plaza from 10pm Friday, April 7 through 12:00 noon Sunday, April 9, and for several more weekends through April and May, in order to perform necessary roadway reconstruction work on the Bronx side of the bridge.

An additional lane will be closed Southbound (Queens bound) in the early morning hours, Saturday from 1:00 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. and Sunday from 4:00 a.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Throgs Neck Bridge Toll Plaza Overnight Lane Closures Start April 5th

A series of overnight lane closures will begin at the Throgs Neck Bridge starting Wednesday, April 5th for necessary roadway reconstruction and paving work. The schedule is as follows:

Hugh L Carey Tunnel Brooklyn Toll Plaza Roadway Restoration Starts April 1

Roadway restoration of the old Brooklyn toll plaza at the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel will commence at 6pm on Saturday, April 1, requiring full closures of various tunnel approach lanes and exits for approximately one month. This work will restore the roadway surface on the plaza following the removal of the toll booths, and will result in a smoother ride for customers through the tunnel, which converted to Cashless Tolling operations on January 4, 2017.

Marine Parkway Bridge Closed Overnight: March 27 – April 1

The Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge will be closed to traffic in both directions during overnight hours from Monday, March 27 through Saturday morning, April 1. All traffic will be detoured to the Cross Bay Veterans Memorial Bridge between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

The necessary closures are needed in order to conduct a crane operation on both the South and North Towers. In addition, during the daytime hours one lane will be closed in both directions to accommodate the crane safety work zone.

Overnight Lane Closures at Robert F. Kennedy Bridge/Queens Approach 3/24 – 3/27 and 3/31 – 4/3

One out of four lanes will be closed overnight in the Queens-to-Manhattan/Bronx direction (northbound) of the RFK Bridge, starting at 10pm on Friday, March 24, through 5am Monday, March 27, and again on Friday, March 31 through early Monday, April 3. The closures at the Queens approach are required for necessary pavement replacement work.

The Queens approach is on the Astoria end of the RFK Bridge’s Queens suspended span, at the Grand Central Parkway split at Hoyt Ave. Two northbound lanes will remain open on the Grand Central Parkway while the pavement work zone is in place.

*Amended* Rockaway-bound Marine Parkway Bridge Closed Overnight: Southbound Closure March 23 – 24 and Full Bridge Closure March 24 - 25

The Rockaway-bound (south) side of the Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial Bridge will be closed to traffic during overnight hours from 10pm on Thursday, March 23 through 5am Friday morning, March 24. There will be a full bridge closure (both directions) starting 11:59pm on Friday, March 24 until 5am Saturday, March 25. The necessary closures are needed in order to conduct a crane operation on both the South and North Towers. In addition, during the daytime hours one lane will be closed in both directions to accommodate the crane safety work zone.

Hugh L Carey Tunnel Brooklyn-Bound Tube Closure 3/22 and 3/23

The Brooklyn-bound tube at the Hugh L Carey Tunnel will be closed, from 10:30am to 2:30pm on both Wednesday, March 22 and Thursday, March 23, for necessary maintenance. One lane will operate in each direction in the remaining tube during these periods.

Motorists are advised to allow additional travel time, or consider an alternate route.
