Bus: Wait Assessment

| 1st Half 2008: 82.8 % | 2nd Half 2008: 82.9 % |
| 1st Half 2009: 83.9 % | 2nd Half 2009: N/A |
Bus Wait Assessment is measured during the day (7 a.m. to 12 a.m.) when service is relatively frequent.* This indicator is the percentage of instances that the time between buses falls within acceptable limits. The higher the percentage is, the more reliable the service.
An "acceptable limit" is the scheduled time between buses plus:
-
No more than three minutes during the peak period (7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.); or
-
No more than five minutes during the off-peak period (9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.)
For example, if the scheduled time between off-peak buses is ten minutes, and buses arrive thirteen minutes apart, then customers have waited three minutes longer than the scheduled time. Since this is less than five minutes over the scheduled time between buses, customers have not waited too long for the bus. Wait time is acceptable for this example.
* This indicator is surveyed on 42 selected high-volume routes.
