MTA LIRR Set to Construct Pedestrian Bridge Extension at Port Washington Station Over 4 Days from October 16-19

MTA Long Island Rail Road plans to erect a temporary extension to an existing pedestrian bridge at Port Washington Station over a four-day period beginning Thursday, October 16 and finishing up on Sunday, October 19. The project will have no impact on train service.

Buses Replace Trains between Farmingdale & Ronkonkoma on Saturday, Sept. 27 & Sunday, Sept. 28 for Track & Signal Work

Buses will replace trains this coming weekend on the Ronkonkoma Branch between Ronkonkoma and Farmingdale beginning at 12:45 AM on Saturday, September 27 through 5:30 AM on Sunday, September 28 for Sperry Rail Testing and switch and signal maintenance.

LIRR Providing Special Car for Cancer Survivors Going to Victory Day Event at Mather Hospital in Port Jefferson on Saturday, September 27

The Long Island Rail Road has set aside two cars of a regularly scheduled train for breast cancer survivors traveling to the Victory Day event at John T. Mather Memorial Hospital in Port Jefferson on Saturday, September 27.

Long Island Rail Road Schedules 8 Extra Afternoon Eastbound Trains for Customers Heading Home Early for Rosh Hashanah

MTA Long Island Rail Road is offering eight additional eastbound trains from Penn Station, Wednesday, September 24 between 2:08 PM and 3:48 PM for customers traveling home early in observance of Rosh Hashanah. There will be three additional trains on the Babylon Branch, three on the Port Jefferson Branch, one on the Port Washington Branch and one on the Far Rockaway Branch.

The extra Rosh Hashanah trains departing Penn Station on Wednesday afternoon are:

MTA LIRR Investing $14 Million in Safer, Wider and More Durable Escalators at 6 Stations on Busy Babylon Branch

MTA Long Island Rail Road President Patrick Nowakowski announced today that the LIRR is investing $14 million toward the installation of new, safer, wider and more durable escalators at six stations on the Babylon Branch, the latest in a series of service upgrades the Railroad has made to ensure that escalators and elevators are operating at peak efficiency systemwide.

MTA Long Island Rail Road will be providing extra train service to Forest Hills Station in Queens for two upcoming concerts, one by the pioneering alternative rock band The Replacements tomorrow, Friday, September 19 and a concert by Grateful Dead alum Phil Lesh (and Friends) on Sunday, September 21.

The LIRR’s Forest Hills Station is located on the LIRR's Main Line --  just a short distance from Forest Hills Stadium.
