LIRR to Operate on Adjusted Schedules November 17-18

Long Island Rail Road crews will install a switch near Pinelawn this coming weekend, November 17-18; as a result, the Ronkonkoma, Port Jefferson, and Oyster Bay Branches will operate on adjusted timetables. The frequency of train service will remain the same for all branches.

Service Update: LIRR’s New Gibson Pedestrian Overpass Installation Date Rescheduled

Long Island Rail Road crews are set to install a new pedestrian overpass at the Gibson Station on Saturday, November 10, 2018.

Finishing work on this project, which will serve customers at this station for decades to come, was originally scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 3, but was rescheduled to Saturday, November 10.

LIRR Crews to Renew Switches at Hicksville and Railroad Crossing in Syosset

This coming weekend, Nov. 3-4, Long Island Rail Road crews will perform maintenance on track switches in Hicksville and renew the railroad crossing at Robbins Lane in Syosset, improving safety. As a result of this important infrastructure work, trains between Penn Station and Huntington will run every hour, instead of every half hour, and trains between Huntington and Port Jefferson will run every two hours, instead of every 90 minutes.

Parking App to Bring Convenience to Users of Long Island Rail Road’s Mineola Intermodal Center

Long Island Rail Road customers in Mineola can now pay for parking by smartphone, starting today. LIRR President Phillip Eng today announced that the railroad is working with the PassportParking app to begin accepting parking payments at the LIRR’s Mineola Intermodal Center, at 65 Third Avenue in Mineola, which has parking for 960 cars. Use of the app adds convenience and additional features for commuters, and eliminates the need to use pay-on-foot machines on site.

MTA LIRR Opens Upgraded LIRR Stations at Farmingdale and Wantagh

Metropolitan Transportation Authority and Long Island Rail Road officials today announced the opening of two newly renovated railroad stations – at Farmingdale and Wantagh – bringing customer-focused improvements to thousands of riders.

The doors to Farmingdale’s upgraded station building were opened today, while recently, the LIRR also finished a $27 million renovation project at Wantagh Station, which included platform replacements and newly installed elevator, among many other added amenities.

LIRR Opens Rebuilt Flushing-Main Street Station

MTA Long Island Rail Road President Phil Eng today joined Queens elected officials, advocates and community members to open the newly rebuilt and reconfigured Flushing-Main Street station. The new station features two new elevators, one each to the eastbound and westbound platforms, a new street-level ticket office, and a prominent new set of entranceways connecting the platforms directly to the community hub of Flushing at Main Street. Construction on the project began in 2016 and cost $24.6 million.
