LIRR Track Work on Weekend of Oct. 25-26 Means Reduced Service or Schedule Changes on 7 Branches

Track work scheduled for the weekend of Saturday, October 25 and Sunday, October 26 will mean schedule changes and reduced train service on the Hempstead, Huntington/Port Jefferson, Oyster Bay, Ronkonkoma, Montauk, Long Beach and Far Rockaway branches. Long Island Rail Road workers will be carrying out switch renewal work in the Queens Village area and off-loading continuous welded rail between Hicksville and Syosset for future installation.

Good News Times Two for LIRR Port Washington Branch Customers

Port Washington Branch customers of the MTA Long Island Rail Road will benefit from two recently completed projects – at the Great Neck and Port Washington stations.

At the Port Washington Station, work on an extension of the Eastern pedestrian bridge was completed during the weekend, allowing customers to reach all platforms by using the overpass. And, at the Great Neck Station, workers completed the rehabilitation of the west end of the westbound platform (also known as Platform A).

MTA LIRR's Free Train Time App Just Got Smarter

MTA Long Island Rail Road is proud to introduce the newest version of its popular “TrainTime” mobile app with improvements that make it easier than ever for LIRR customers to obtain the most up-to- date train information available.

Among the new features of Train Time are an easier to use Station Picker Screen, improved Arrival Countdown Screen, enhanced Trip Search capability, detailed station parking information and a new server that enables the LIRR to handle more than 2,000 Train Time requests per minute, a capacity upgrade meant to meet demand during service interruptions.

“Don’t Shortcut Your Life,” LIRR Urges in New Public Safety Campaign Aimed at Stopping Trespassing on Railroad Tracks

MTA Long Island Rail Road is kicking off a new public safety campaign to remind communities in Nassau, Suffolk, Queens and Brooklyn in close proximity to the Railroad that trespassing on LIRR tracks or Right-of-Way is never okay.

Trespassing is illegal, always dangerous and often fatal as the statistics for 2013 show. Thirty-five trespassers struck by LIRR trains last year and 28 died of their injuries, compared with 28 incidents and 18 fatalities in 2012.

LIRR to Fully Re-Open Rehabilitated Westbound Platform at Great Neck Station to Customers on Monday, October 20

MTA Long Island Rail Road announced today that work on west end of the westbound platform, at Great Neck Station (also known as Platform A) is nearing completion and the platform will fully reopen to customers on Monday, October 20 at 12:01 AM.

MTA LIRR Set to Construct Pedestrian Bridge Extension at Port Washington Station Over 4 Days from October 16-19

MTA Long Island Rail Road plans to erect a temporary extension to an existing pedestrian bridge at Port Washington Station over a four-day period beginning Thursday, October 16 and finishing up on Sunday, October 19. The project will have no impact on train service.

Buses Replace Trains from Ronkonkoma to Greenport for Track Work Monday, Columbus Day, October 13, from 7 AM to 6:45 PM

Buses will replace trains between Ronkonkoma and Greenport on Columbus Day, Monday, October 14 so that Long Island Rail Road workers can renew of grade crossings and install new railroad ties along the single track route.
