MTA Long Island Rail Road President Phil Eng today announced two ‘Customer Conversations’ forums, one in Nassau County and another in Suffolk County, to continue his efforts in keeping an open dialogue with LIRR customers about its service and progress on major initiatives.

Daily commuters, leisure travelers, community members and stakeholders alike are encouraged to attend and engage in constructive dialogue with President Eng and other subject matter experts who will be available to hear about their experiences, share feedback and to answer questions.

Work on Several Branches This Weekend to Advance LIRR Safety, Reliability and Modernization Initiatives

The Long Island Rail Road will perform important infrastructure work at several locations across the system this weekend, including on the Double Track project on the Ronkonkoma Branch; pre-cutover testing on the new signal system in Harold Interlocking; as well as Positive Train Control testing and tie replacement on a section of the Port Washington Branch.

LIRR to Test Upgraded East Side Access Signal System at Harold Interlocking, and Service Switches and Tracks on Atlantic Branch This Saturday

Long Island Rail Road crews will test upgraded signal systems for the East Side Access project, as well as perform switch surfacing work on the Atlantic Branch to ensure system reliability this Saturday, May 12, 2018. The LIRR will suspend all work and testing the morning of Sunday, May 13, to help customers travel to and from Mother’s Day visits and activities.

LIRR’s May Timetable Change Brings Service Enhancements to Montauk Branch and Port Jefferson Branch and Doubles North Fork Weekend Service

Long Island Rail Road timetables change on May 21, bringing a number of schedule improvements that have been requested by customers. Other changes relate to ongoing track work and infrastructure improvements planned to take place this summer.

To help provide more seating on some of the LIRR’s busiest trains, the lengths of nine rush hour trains are being increased as part the new timetables.

LIRR to Perform Double Track Work on Main Line, Port Washington Branch Positive Train Control Tests and Rail Replacement on Atlantic Branch

Long Island Rail Road crews will be deployed on several branches throughout the system this weekend, April 28-29, performing important work on the Double Track Project on the Ronkonkoma Branch; Positive Train Control tests on the Port Washington Branch; and rail replacement on the Atlantic Branch. This work will require some changes to train schedules, as noted below.

MTA Appoints Transportation Veteran Phillip Eng as LIRR President

Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Chairman Joseph J. Lhota and MTA Managing Director Veronique "Ronnie" Hakim today announced the appointment of Phillip Eng as the next president of MTA Long Island Rail Road.
