Buses Replace Trains on the Oyster Bay Branch Over Weekend of Saturday June 18 & Sunday, June 19 for Track Resurfacing

Buses will replace trains on the Oyster Bay Branch on Saturday, June 18 from 12:39 a.m. until 8:52 p.m. and again on Sunday, June 19 from 12:39 a.m. until 12:52 p.m. to allow the Long Island Rail Road to carry out a track resurfacing project.

LIRR Service on Hempstead Branch Reduced from Hourly to Every 2 Hours on Saturday, June 11 from 3 p.m. Until 10 p.m.

Service on the Hempstead Branch will be reduced from one train every hour to one train every two hours this coming Saturday, June 11 between 3 p.m. and 10 p.m. when one of two tracks is taken out of regular service and repurposed to help the Long Island Rail Road meet the extra service demand to and from Belmont Park for the Belmont Stakes. The service change affects all service between Hempstead and Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn, as well as Penn Station via connections at Jamaica.

MTA LIRR Adding 10 Extra Eastbound Trains Friday Afternoon to Serve Customers Leaving Work Early for Holiday Weekend

MTA Long Island Rail Road will provide 10 additional early-afternoon trains from Penn Station on Friday, May 27, for customers planning an early start to the Memorial Day Weekend. The LIRR will operate on a regular weekend schedule on Saturday and Sunday and on a holiday schedule on Memorial Day.

The following trains have been added to the regular Friday afternoon schedule:

  • 1:49 p.m. stopping at Woodside, Jamaica, Mineola, then all stops to Ronkonkoma

Service on the Port Washington Branch Reduced from Half-Hourly to Hourly on Saturday, June 4 from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m.

With the newly constructed Colonial Road Bridge now open to vehicular traffic, MTA Long Island Rail Road is preparing for the next phase of the Colonial Road Improvement Project: the installation of a new drainage system at track level that will eliminate a flooding problem that often hampers train service.
