MTA LIRR Substitutes Bus Service For Midday Trains East of Ronkonkoma For Switch Renewal Track Work September 15-18 and September 22-23
As part of its track rehabilitation and renewal project, the MTA Long Island Rail Road will be upgrading the switches at Riverhead Station during the weeks of September 15 and September 22, which will affect midday service on the Ronkonkoma Branch. During the switch renewal work, the LIRR will provide bus service in place of some trains during the midday on the Ronkonkoma Branch, east of Ronkonkoma, on Monday, September 15 through Thursday September 18 and again on Monday September 22 and Tuesday September 23.
MTA LIRR Providing Additional Service To Shea Stadium This Sunday, September 7, For Re-Scheduled Mets Evening Game
The MTA Long Island Rail Road will provide additional train service to Shea Stadium this Sunday evening, September 7, for the Mets re-scheduled 8:05 PM game start, against the Phillies. The game had originally been scheduled for a 1:10 PM start but was moved to accommodate an ESPN broadcast.
MTA LIRR Ronkonkoma Branch Train Service Is Replaced By Buses During The Overnight Of September 20 As Rail Inspection Is Performed
The MTA Long Island Rail Road will provide bus service in place of trains on the Ronkonkoma Branch during overnight/early-morning hours (12:45 AM to 6:30 AM) on Saturday, September 20, while rail inspections are conducted. Four eastbound and four westbound trains operating through the overnight will be canceled between Farmingdale and Ronkonkoma. To minimize inconvenience to our customers, buses will be provided for passengers to complete their trips.

The MTA Long Island Rail Road will be providing additional service for customers getting an early start on the Labor Day Weekend this Friday, August 29. There will be eight additional eastbound trains from Penn Station between 1:47 PM and 3:48 PM. The extra service will include: three trains on the Babylon Branch, three on the Port Jefferson Branch, one on the Port Washington Branch and one on the Far Rockaway Branch. *See special note below on Montauk Branch service for Sunday and Monday.
