Media Advisory: MTA LIRR to Provide Additional New Year's Holiday Service on December 28, December 31, and January 1

Alcoholic Beverages Prohibited On LIRR Trains, Platforms, and At Stations On New Year's Eve and Through Morning On New Year's Day

The MTA Long Island Rail Road will provide additional trains to and from Penn Station for the New Year's holiday. The extra service includes additional eastbound afternoon trains on Friday, December 28 and again on New Year's Eve, Monday, December 31; additional westbound trains into Penn Station on New Year's Eve and additional eastbound trains out of Penn Station on Tuesday, January 1.

The MTA Long Island Rail Road will provide additional trains to and from Penn Station for the New Year's holiday. The extra service includes additional eastbound afternoon trains on Friday, December 28 and again on New Year's Eve, Monday, December 31; additional westbound trains into Penn Station on New Year's Eve and additional eastbound trains out of Penn Station on Tuesday, January 1.

As in prior years, alcohol will not be allowed on LIRR trains, stations and platforms on New Year's Eve and through the morning on New Year's Day. MTA Police will enforce this restriction.

Take Your Train To The New York National Boat Show December 29-January 6

The MTA Long Island Rail Road invites area sailors to help celebrate the 103rd anniversary of the New York National Boat Show with a discount package that includes savings of up to 32% on train fare and admission to the Boat Show. The LIRR Boat Show package is $23 for adults in Zones 1-12, $30 for adults in Zone 14. It's available from all open ticket offices and from blue and grey ticket machines.

MTA LIRR Operates Extra Trains on December 21 & December 24 For Early Holiday Getaway

The MTA Long Island Rail Road will operate eight extra afternoon trains from Penn Station between 2:09 PM and 3:48 PM on Friday, December 21 and again on Monday, December 24 for those leaving work early for the holiday. The LIRR will operate on a holiday schedule on Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25.

The eight extra trains depart Penn Station as follows:

Babylon Branch
2:22 PM-Express to Lynbrook, then all stops to Babylon
3:00 PM-Jamaica, Rockville Centre, then all stops to Babylon
3:31 PM-Express to Rockville Centre, then all stops to Babylon

Get Your Motor Running and Head to the 2007 International Motorcycle Show on the MTA LIRR

Get your motor running but don't head out on the highway, take the MTA Long Island Rail Road instead to the 2007 International Motorcycle Show at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. The LIRR's new discount package, at a savings of up to 44%, includes admission to the Motorcycle Show and railroad off-peak round-trip fare. The Show runs from December 28-30.

If you happen to be a bit too loud in your on-train cell phone use or are in the habit of taking up more than your fair share of seat(s) on a train, then please pay attention to the new MTA Long Island Rail Road campaign or please mention it to your train-riding colleagues. "Courtesy Matters," focuses on two areas, rude cell phone and seat space use, that have been the subject of LIRR customer complaints, areas that are within the control of customers themselves.

Some Port Washington Branch Overnight Trains Affected By Debris Removal Program East Of Great Neck November 26-30

A track clean up program on the Port Washington Branch between Great Neck and Port Washington during the week of November 26 through November 30 will result in the partial cancellation of some overnight trains east of Great Neck. Four trains (two eastbound and two westbound) will be affected between 12:50 AM and 3:53 AM. Customers will take vans to complete their trips.

Eastbound

The 12:19 AM and 1:19 AM trains from Penn Station will terminate at Great Neck. Customers for Manhasset, Plandome and Port Washington will board vans at Great Neck to complete their trips.

MTA LIRR Provides Extra Trains For Thanksgiving Eve and On Holiday; Off-Peak and Family Fares in Effect Thanksgiving Day Through Sunday, November 25

The MTA Long Island Rail Road will be providing extra service on Thanksgiving Eve, Wednesday, November 21, and on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 22. On the Friday after Thanksgiving, November 23, one of the busiest shopping days of the year, off-peak fares will be in effect all day, including the special Family Fare discount, and a regular weekday schedule will be in effect. Under the Family Fare program, up to four children ages 5-11 can ride during the off-peak for the advance purchase fare of 75 cents each when accompanied by fare-paying parent or guardian.
