All Aboard MTA LIRR Trains To Belmont Park Starting Today

They're off! MTA Long Island Rail Road is running train service to Belmont Park for the rest of the thoroughbred-racing season at New York's most famous racetrack, including the 141st running of the Belmont Stakes.

Starting today, "Belmont Special" package tickets go on sale covering rail transportation and a $1 discount off the regular $2 grandstand admission to the track. Current fares to Belmont will remain in effect through June 16. On June 17, new fares will go into effect.

MTA LIRR Marks Start Of Summer Season With Summer Service To Hamptons And Montauk, And Summer Beach Packages

The Memorial Day weekend heralds the start of MTA Long Island Rail Road service to the Hamptons and Montauk and summer packages to Jones Beach, Long Beach and Fire Island.

SUMMER SERVICE TO THE HAMPTONS, MONTAUK AND NORTH FORK:

May 22 marks the start of the LIRR's Friday afternoon service to the Hamptons and Montauk for the summer season. The following trains operate each Friday during the summer:

MTA LIRR To Restore Belmont Service May 28

MTA Long Island Rail Road service to Belmont Park for the spring racing season is expected to be restored starting May 28, pending MTA Board approval on May 27. Current fares to Belmont will remain in effect through June 16. On June 17, new fares will go into effect. The LIRR's "Belmont Special" package ticket includes rail transportation, and a $1 discount off the regular $2 grandstand admission to the track. The track is closed for racing on Mondays and Tuesdays, with the exception of Monday, May 25, Memorial Day.

MTA LIRR Provides Extra Trains For Start Of Memorial Day Holiday Weekend, May 22; Calverton Cemetery Package Ticket Available For May 23

The MTA Long Island Rail Road will provide additional service this Friday, May 22, for those starting the Memorial Day holiday weekend early. The extra service includes eight additional eastbound trains between 2:02 PM and 3:48 PM. There will also be a special Memorial Day weekend package fare to Calverton National Cemetery on Saturday,

May 24, for those wishing to visit the grave of a loved one.

New MTA LIRR Timetables In Effect May 18

New MTA Long Island Rail Road timetables take affect starting Monday, May 18. The new schedules include adjustments to train service on various branches to allow track work and construction to be performed. The branches affected include: Long Beach, Far Rockaway, Hempstead, Oyster Bay, Port Jefferson, Port Washington and Ronkonkoma. Additionally, some trains – two peak and three off-peak – are being canceled.

Renovation Work To Begin May 11 On MTA LIRR Ronkonkoma Station Parking Lot

Work to improve the parking area located on the northeast side of the tracks at the MTA Long Island Rail Road Ronkonkoma Station is to begin May 11. The work will be done in two stages. Work on the western half of the lot will proceed first. Commuters will still be able to use the eastern half of the lot until work on the western half is completed by the end of August. At that time, customers will be able to use the western half of the lot, as work is completed on the eastern half. The project is expected to be completed by December 31.

MTA LIRR Provides Service To CBS Radio NY Expo

The MTA Long Island Rail Road is the way to go if you're going to the CBS Radio New York Expo at Citi Field this Saturday, May 2. All Port Washington Branch trains will stop at Mets-Willets Point Station between 8:30 AM and 6:30 PM. Customers from other branches can transfer at Woodside for trains to Mets-Willets Point Station.

The MTA Long Island Rail Road today marks 175 years of service to Long Island and New York with events in Penn Station and in Jamaica, including a commemorative U.S. Post Office hand cancel opportunity for the public.

Mets Tickets And Macy's Gift Cards To Be Raffled Off Today At Penn Station As Part Of LIRR's 175th Anniversary

The MTA Long Island Rail Road continues its 175th anniversary celebration with another of its popular Customer Appreciation Giveaway Days today, April 21, at Penn Station.

Between 7 AM and 7 PM, the LIRR will raffle off four New York Mets tickets, four $100 gift certificates for shopping at Macy's Herald Square, as well as passes to "Kooza" - Cirque Du Soleil's latest show, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Annex and "Bodies: The Exhibition."

The four Mets tickets are for the team's May 9 game against the Pittsburgh Pirates at spanking new Citi Field.
