MTA LIRR Operates Extra Service For Belmont Stakes June 9; Alcoholic Beverages Will Be Prohibited On Belmont Park Trains

The MTA Long Island Rail Road will provide extra train service for the 139th running of the Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park on Saturday, June 9. The LIRR will operate eighteen trains – most of them direct from Penn Station – between 9:59 AM and 3:48 PM. The MTA Police will be enforcing a no alcohol policy on trains to Belmont Park. Bags and coolers are subject to search prior to boarding Belmont Park trains at Penn Station and at Jamaica Station. On Belmont Stakes Day, no alcoholic beverages of any kind will be permitted to be brought into the Belmont Park facility.

MTA LIRR Broadway Station Renovation Work to Affect Eastbound Customers Starting June 11

The MTA Long Island Rail Road's renovation work at the Broadway Station on the Port Washington Branch will affect eastbound customers starting Monday, June 11. As of that date, only the rear four cars of eastbound trains will platform at the station. Customers wishing to exit at the Broadway Station will have to use the rear four cars. During that time part of the platform will be replaced. The work is expected to take approximately six months.

MTA LIRR to Provide Additional Service for Puerto Rican Day Parade, Sunday, June 10; Alcoholic Beverages Prohibited at Stations, Platforms, and Trains

The MTA Long Island Rail Road will operate two additional trains for customers traveling to the Puerto Rican Day Parade on Sunday, June 10. In an effort to maintain orderly travel for customers attending the parade, alcoholic beverages will not be permitted on trains, platforms and at stations on Sunday, June 10 and continuing through 4 AM on Monday, June 11. Any alcoholic beverages observed or found at LIRR facilities will be confiscated by MTA Police. The LIRR will not sell alcoholic beverages on
June 10.

MTA LIRR Port Jefferson Branch Affected by Track Work Weekend of June 2 & 3

Track work between Huntington and Northport Stations on the MTA Long Island Rail Road's Port Jefferson Branch will affect train service on the branch Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and June 3. From 12:15 AM, Saturday, June 2, through 11:45 PM, Sunday, June 3, crossing renewal at Park Avenue and switch replacement will be completed east of Huntington. During this time buses will replace trains for customers east of Huntington.

MTA LIRR Marks Start of Summer Season With Extra Trains for Eve of Memorial Day Holiday Weekend; Summer Beach Packages; and the Calverton Cemetery Package Ticket, May 26

The MTA Long Island Rail Road will mark the traditional start of summer this Memorial Day Weekend with extra service for its customers. The extra service includes eight additional eastbound trains Friday afternoon, May 25, for customers planning an early start on the holiday weekend. The Memorial Day Weekend also heralds the start of summer packages to Jones Beach, Long Beach and Fire Island, and a special Memorial Day weekend package fare to Calverton Cemetery, on Saturday, May 26, for those wishing to visit the grave of a loved one.

MTA LIRR Oyster Bay Branch Affected by Track Work This Weekend, May 19-20

MTA Long Island Rail Road Oyster Bay Branch customers traveling to and from Oyster Bay Station will use vans for part of their trips this weekend, May 19 and May 20, as switch installation work is completed. The track between Locust Valley and Oyster Bay will be out of service from 1:05 AM, Saturday, May 19 through 1:04 AM, Monday, May 21.

Eastbound
Customers for Oyster Bay will board vans at the Locust Valley Station to complete their trips. Customers can expect increased travel time of eleven minutes.

MTA LIRR Provides Extra Service to Shea for Mets-Yankees "Subway Series" May 18-May 20

The MTA Long Island Rail Road will be providing additional train service to and from Shea Stadium over and above regular Shea service for this season's first "Subway Series" between the Mets and Yankees the weekend of May 18 through May 20. Service begins two and one-half hours before each game. Take an earlier train so you won't miss a minute of this exciting series. Mets fans should pick up a copy of the special Met-Yankees Series at Shea Stadium May 18-20 timetable at their station or at all LIRR terminals.
