Ride a Winner - Take the Train to Belmont Park; MTA LIRR "Belmont Special" is the Best Route to the Track for the Spring Racing Card; Save $1 Off Grandstand Admission

Ride a winner and take the MTA Long Island Rail Road to Belmont Park for the Spring racing season. The LIRR's "Belmont Special" package ticket includes round-trip rail transportation, and a $1 discount off the regular $2 grandstand admission to the track. Starting Wednesday, May 2 and continuing through Sunday, July 22, LIRR trains will operate to and from Belmont Park for all racing days. First race begins at 1:00 PM. On Fridays - June 15 through July 20 - post time for Sunset Racing is 3 PM.

Track Work Affects MTA LIRR Montauk Branch on Two Weekends April 27-28 & May 4-7

Train service east of Babylon on the MTA Long Island Rail Road's Montauk Branch will be affected by switch replacement work for two weekends, Friday night, April 27, and Saturday, April 28 and Friday night May 4 through early Monday, May 7.

From 11 PM, Friday, April 27 through 3 PM, Saturday, April 28, one of two main tracks between Babylon and Sayville will be out of service. Three eastbound and three westbound trains will be replaced by buses and others will have their schedules adjusted.

MTA LIRR Weekend Track Work to Affect Some Woodside Station Customers Weekend of April 21-22; Normal Service for Shea Stadium Mets Games

The MTA Long Island Rail Road's continuing weekend tie replacement program between Jamaica and the East River Tunnels (Long Island City) will affect some Woodside Station customers this weekend, April 21 and 22, but the same number of trains will operate to Shea Stadium for this weekend's Mets games. Woodside customers exiting from westbound Main Line trains between 10 PM Friday, April 20 and 10 AM Saturday, April 21 must use the first two cars of their train to disembark onto temporary platforms.

MTA LIRR Hempstead Branch Train Service Affected by Track Work Program Mid-Days, Weekdays, April 16-27

The MTA Long Island Rail Road Hempstead Branch will be affected by a track work program mid-days during the week, April 16-April 27. During the work, customers traveling between Hempstead and Garden City will take buses to complete their trips. Twelve trains are affected, six eastbound and six westbound. The work includes the replacement of wooden track ties with longer lasting concrete track ties.

MTA LIRR Substitutes Bus Service for Mid-Day Trains on West Hempstead Branch for Rail Inspection, April 18

The MTA Long Island Rail Road will provide bus service in place of four midday trains on the West Hempstead Branch on Wednesday, April 18 in order to use the Sperry Rail Car to conduct special rail tests. Two eastbound and two westbound trains will be affected. Customers should allow up to 20 minutes additional travel time. No bicycles will be allowed on the buses.

The MTA Long Island Rail Road is the best way to Shea for Mets fans this season.

Train service to Shea Stadium is available on eastbound Port Washington Branch trains from Penn Station and westbound trains from Great Neck and Port Washington. The train ride is just 16 minutes from Penn Station to Shea Stadium. For those traveling on the LIRR from Long Island, the Stadium is just six minutes from Woodside, 15 minutes from Great Neck and 25 minutes from Port Washington.

MTA LIRR Flatbush Avenue Terminal Centennial April 1; Work Continues on Major Renovation Project

Everything old is renewed again. That revised version of the often used expression certainly applies to the MTA Long Island Rail Road's Flatbush Avenue Terminal which marks its 100th Anniversary on April 1 and, at the same time, is in the midst of a major renewal project.

MTA LIRR Stewart Avenue Grade Crossing Work to be Performed April 2-7 and April 21 Resulting in Road Closure

Grade crossing renewal work at the Stewart Avenue, Bethpage Long Island Rail Road crossing will take place from Monday, April 2 through Saturday, April 7 and on Saturday, April 21. The road will be closed each day during the work on April 2, through April 6 from 8 AM to 4 PM; and on Saturdays, April 7 and 21 from 8:00 AM to 8 PM. LIRR train service will not be affected during the work periods.

The following roadway detour routes will be established while Stewart Avenue is closed for the crossing renewal work:

MTA LIRR Substitutes Bus Service for Trains on Montauk Branch for Rail Inspection on March 30

The MTA Long Island Rail Road will provide bus service in place of two mid-day trains on the Montauk Branch east of Babylon on Friday, March 30 as track inspections are made on one of the tracks between Babylon and Patchogue.
