Metro-North to Begin Resuming Train Service Mid-Day Sunday

Metro-North will begin restoring service at the outlying terminal stations after 12 Noon and be fully operationally in and out of Grand Central Terminal by 3 PM, operating on a Sunday schedule. Grand Central Terminal was open for retail customers at 8 PM.

Customers should refer to the timetable for Sunday service, Metro-North Train Time or the interactive schedules page.

Governor Cuomo Delivers Update on State Response to Storm and Hazardous Weather Conditions

“This was a truly historic storm, and while we have made good progress we are not done working yet,” Governor Cuomo said. “The travel ban has been lifted, but New Yorkers should still avoid unnecessary travel – please use caution, plan ahead and stay safe. I want to thank the incredible people who worked around the clock responding to this storm. Metro-North Provides Special Service on Martin Luther King Holiday

If you’re one of the many Metro-North customers who will be working on Monday, January 18, 2016, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, no need to worry about your commute. Metro-North Railroad will operate on a Saturday schedule with 35 additional trains. The extra service includes three extra Hudson Line trains, 14 Harlem Line extras as well as one additional Wassaic connection, and 15 extra New Haven Line trains, including branch connections. For West of Hudson customers, there will be 3 additional trains on the Port Jervis Line. And, off peak fares apply all day.

MTA Metro-North Railroad wants to help you celebrate the most wonderful time of the year by providing all the service you’ll need for the upcoming holidays.

Please remember that drinking alcohol on Metro-North trains and at our stations is banned from noon New Year's Eve until noon New Year's Day. And don’t forget to buy your tickets in advance if you are traveling "early morning" (after midnight) on New Year’s Eve. Tickets will be collected prior to boarding trains at Grand Central Terminal.

Metro-North Announces Results of Track Work Initiative

MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced the latest results of an extraordinary systemwide track reconstruction effort that has rebuilt miles of the railroad in the last two and a half years, delivering smoother, safer and more reliable service to customers.

Since May 2013, Metro-North workers have replaced 97,961 ties, laid 16.5 miles of continuous welded rails, rebuilt 88 switches, renewed and/or upgraded 32 railroad crossings, and performed 2,905 welds on joints that connect stretches of track with one another.

Metro-North Hires New Chief Safety Officer

MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that it has named Justin R. Vonashek as the agency’s new Vice President of System Safety. The position will oversee all efforts to ensure the safety of its customers and employees as the Railroad continues to improve work practices and invest in new technology and equipment. Vonashek (pronounced VON-uh-shek) will report to Metro-North President Joseph Giulietti and work closely with MTA Chief Safety Officer David Mayer and MTA Sr. Advisor, Corporate Safety Initiatives Anne Kirsch.

New Metro-North New Haven Line and Hudson Line Schedules Go Into Effect on Monday, November 16

On Monday, November 16, new Metro-North timetables go into effect on the New Haven Line and the Hudson Line. On both lines, trains are returning to normal schedules after construction work has concluded. The timetables will stay in place through April 2. There are no changes to the Harlem Line.
