Metro-North Schedules to Change April 26

Metro-North Railroad’s new train schedules effective Sunday, April 26, improve reliability and put more trains in service, making travel more convenient for customers. The schedules also will temporarily lengthen weekend travel times by up to five minutes to provide the appropriate track outages necessary to perform critical track maintenance work and capital construction projects.

MTA Metro-North Railroad to Offer Extra Service for St. Patrick’s Day

With the 254th St. Patrick’s Day Parade scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, Metro-North will ban alcohol to maintain orderly train service and is planning to run up to six extra inbound trains to help accommodate revelers heading to the parade. Going home, one extra train will run on the Hudson Line.

An extra train will depart from Poughkeepsie at 8:23 a.m. and stop at New Hamburg at 8:32 a.m. and Beacon at 8:41 a.m. before running express to Harlem-125th Street (arriving at 9:46 a.m.) and arriving at Grand Central Terminal at 10:01 a.m.

Governor Cuomo Announces Metro-North Railroad Will Resume Service on Harlem Line For AM Commute

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo announced tonight that Metro-North will resume train service on the Harlem Line tomorrow morning for the first time since Tuesday night’s collision between a passenger train and a SUV near Valhalla Station.

Metro-North customers should expect delays as trains will have to slow down as they pass through the work zone at the site of the accident.

The first train to operate over the crossing will be the 4:26 a.m. departure from Southeast, which is due into Grand Central at 5:30 a.m.

Metro-North Railroad Afternoon Update

MTA Chairman & CEO Thomas Prendergast and Metro-North President Joseph Giulietti are working today in collaboration with the National Transportation Safety Board on its investigation regarding last evening’s collision between a passenger train and SUV near Valhalla Station. MTA Metro-North Railroad is accompanying the NTSB with its initial on-site investigation of the incident.

Metro-North Accident Update

The number of fatalities in the Metro-North Railroad accident last night in Valhalla, originally listed as seven, has been revised to six. This includes five passengers aboard the Metro-North train and the driver of the car. The number of passengers being treated for injuries at local hospitals is 15.

Metro-North Service Update for Wednesday, Feb. 4

Because of the accident tonight at Valhalla, Metro-North is providing alternate service tomorrow for Harlem Line customers. Customers should expect delays and crowding conditions.

Trains will operate from Wassaic to Southeast, where customers will be able to board a bus to Beacon on the Hudson Line.

Electric train service will operate from Brewster to Goldens Bridge. Then customers will board a bus shuttle to North White Plains where they will get back on a train.

From Goldens Bridge to Pleasantville, customers will board buses for the trip to North White Plains.

After Visitor Suffers Cardiac Arrest in Grand Central Terminal, Commuter, MTA PD Officers and Metro-North Fire Brigade Save His Life

When a visitor from Kentucky suffered from cardiac arrest in Grand Central and lost his pulse on Friday, January 23, 2015, some quick-thinking members of the MTA Police Department, the Metro-North Fire Brigade and a commuter trained in CPR rushed into action and saved his life.

Metro-North Details Restoration of Train Service

Metro-North Railroad service, which was suspended last night in advance of a major winter nor’easter, will resume today on a Sunday schedule. Trains will resume at approximately 11 a.m. on the Harlem and Hudson Lines and at approximately 1 p.m. on the New Haven Line. Customers who use the Port Jervis Line or Pascack Valley Line should listen to announcements from NJ Transit about resumption of service on those lines.

Metro-North Announces Departure Times for Last Trains to Operate Today

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced the departure times for the final trains expected to operate on all Metro-North lines. Customers are urged not to wait until the last train, but to consider leaving earlier. For full schedule information, please visit our schedules page at mta.info or use the Metro-North Train Time app.

New Haven Line

Connecticut will shut down all roads at 9 p.m., which means people who take the last train out may be in violation of that curfew, unless they walk, and are advised to act accordingly.
