Metro-North Adding Four Extra Trains This Friday to Help Soccer Fans

If you’re heading to tomorrow’s historic ticker tape parade for the world champion U.S. women’s soccer team, skip the traffic and parking headaches. Ride with your fellow soccer fans on Metro-North Railroad, which has hundreds of trains a day to and from Grand Central, and is boosting service tomorrow for soccer fans by running two extra trains to Grand Central timed to get you to the start of the parade, and two extra trains to return you home after the parade is over.

Roaring Brook Road Grade Crossing Will Close Again This Weekend

Improvements at Roaring Brook Road in Chappaqua where it crosses the Metro-North Railroad’s Harlem Line tracks will continue this weekend as part of a collaboration with the New York State Department of Transportation and the Town of New Castle. The road will be closed from 7:00 p.m. Friday until 7:30 p.m. Sunday while weekend train service will not be affected.

Metro-North Railroad and Connecticut Department of Transportation Announce Devon Bridge Span Is in Closed Position

MTA Metro-North Railroad and the Connecticut Department of Transportation today announced that the northern span of the Devon Bridge, connecting Stratford and Milford, Connecticut, has been put into the closed position. Over the coming days, crews will inspect the bridge and make necessary repairs to allow train traffic to resume on all available tracks.

Metro-North and Connecticut Department of Transportation Advise New Haven Line Commuters to Anticipate Scattered Rush-Hour Delays

MTA Metro-North Railroad and the Connecticut Department of Transportation are advising New Haven Line customers traveling through the area of Stratford to anticipate rush hour delays until further notice because of train congestion resulting from mechanical problems with the Devon Movable Bridge.

Metro-North New Haven Line Service Alert

New Haven Line customers should anticipate delays up to 30 minutes until further notice because of mechanical problems with the Devon Movable Bridge. The bridge spans the Housatonic River, connecting Stratford and Milford, Connecticut. Following an overnight test opening, one of two of the bridge’s spans the bridge became stuck in the open position. The remaining two tracks are operating at reduced speed through the area. Metro-North and Connecticut Department of Transportation representatives are on site assessing the situation and we will provide updates as soon as they are available.

Be Patriotic

Be patriotic and take public transportation to your July 4th holiday celebrations! It cuts down on pollution and helps preserve those “purple mountains’ majesty.”)

To get a jump on the holiday, there are early departures on the Port Jervis and Pascack Valley lines in Thursday, July 2.

On the Port Jervis Line, there is a 2:40 p.m. departure from Hoboken (and Penn Station-NY at 2:33 PM.) Because of reduced ridership, the 6:13 p.m. train from Hoboken, with a connection from the 6:03 p.m. train from Penn Station-NY, will not operate.

Declare Your Independence From Traffic

Declare your independence from traffic and tolls this July 4th holiday by taking MTA Metro-North Railroad to celebrate our nation's birthday. There are plenty of early getaway trains on Thursday, July 2.

On Friday, July 3, when the federal government observes the holiday, and on Saturday July 4, trains will operate a Saturday schedule.

Metro-North Partners with Car Rental and Car Sharing Services

To improve station access and regional mobility, MTA Metro-North Railroad is extending its popular partnership with Enterprise Rent-a-Car and adding services provided by Zipcar at outlying stations.

For the last seven years, savvy travelers have used Metro-North then picked up a rental car at many stations and the program has grown continuously. Now Zipcar, an hourly car sharing service, also will be available at select station parking lots.
