Metro-North Takes the Hard Work Out of Enjoying the Labor Day Weekend

MTA Metro-North Railroad doesn’t want you to work hard to celebrate Labor Day! Metro-North has plenty of train service to get you where you need to go for the entire holiday weekend starting Friday, September 4, and continuing through Labor Day, Monday, September 7.

On Friday, September 4, Metro-North will offer 17 early-afternoon “getaway” trains departing Grand Central Terminal between 12:58 p.m. and 4:11 p.m., and one extra departure from Hoboken on the Port Jervis Line, with connecting service from Penn Station-NY.

Governor Cuomo Announces Completion of $2.1 Million Project to Improve Energy Efficiency of Metro-North Railroad

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the New York Power Authority has finished $2.1 million in energy efficiency upgrades at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s Metro-North Railroad North White Plains Train Yard. This energy saving project, completed under the Governor's BuildSmart NY program, will save New York State more than $328,000 in energy costs and remove approximately 1,280 tons of greenhouse gases annually.

MTA Announces Receipt of $20.8 Million Federal Grant to Make Metro-North Railroad’s Hudson Line Resilient Against Future Storm Surges

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) and MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that Metro-North has received a federal grant of $20.8 million to harden Metro-North’s Hudson Line against future storm surge flooding events of the type experienced during Superstorm Sandy.

Buses to Replace New Canaan Branch Trains for Four Weekends

Workers will be out in force along Metro-North Railroad’s New Canaan Branch during the first four weekends of August to renew railroad crossings at three intersections with local streets and rebuild the railroad bridge over the Merritt Parkway.

Metro-North Railroad track workers will renew the tracks and crossing surfaces at two railroad crossings in New Canaan and two in the Springdale section of Stamford as well as improve drainage, and install cable conduits. The railroad crossings are at Camp Avenue in Springdale and Talmadge Hill Road and Grove Street in New Canaan.

Metro-North Adding Four Extra Trains This Friday to Help Soccer Fans

If you’re heading to tomorrow’s historic ticker tape parade for the world champion U.S. women’s soccer team, skip the traffic and parking headaches. Ride with your fellow soccer fans on Metro-North Railroad, which has hundreds of trains a day to and from Grand Central, and is boosting service tomorrow for soccer fans by running two extra trains to Grand Central timed to get you to the start of the parade, and two extra trains to return you home after the parade is over.

Roaring Brook Road Grade Crossing Will Close Again This Weekend

Improvements at Roaring Brook Road in Chappaqua where it crosses the Metro-North Railroad’s Harlem Line tracks will continue this weekend as part of a collaboration with the New York State Department of Transportation and the Town of New Castle. The road will be closed from 7:00 p.m. Friday until 7:30 p.m. Sunday while weekend train service will not be affected.

Metro-North Railroad and Connecticut Department of Transportation Announce Devon Bridge Span Is in Closed Position

MTA Metro-North Railroad and the Connecticut Department of Transportation today announced that the northern span of the Devon Bridge, connecting Stratford and Milford, Connecticut, has been put into the closed position. Over the coming days, crews will inspect the bridge and make necessary repairs to allow train traffic to resume on all available tracks.
