Connecticut Department of Transportation Roadwork to Affect Danbury Branch Service Weekends of July 19-21, and 26-28

MTA Metro-North Railroad advises customers that during the consecutive weekends of July 19-21 and 26-28, Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) crews will realign the intersection of Long Ridge Road and Simpaug Turnpike in Redding to correct a severe skew that has caused safety issues, primarily on the highway.

Metro-North Crews Continue Infrastructure Improvements to Port Jervis Line Weekends of July 12-14, and July 26-28

MTA Metro-North Railroad advises customers that crews will be out this weekend, July 12-14, as well as the weekend of July 26-28, replacing ties on the Moodna Viaduct, south of the Salisbury Mills station. The Moodna Viaduct has 2,300 individual bridge timbers and crews will continue work on this significant tie replacement project.

Elsewhere along the Port Jervis line, crews will install a new cab signal system west of Otisville, which is the latest phase in the complete upgrade of the signal system.

Metro-North Railroad Announces Restoration of Regular New Haven Main Line Service for Tomorrow Morning Rush Hour

MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that the railroad is restoring full New Haven Main Line service on Monday morning, July 8, following the completion of work to rebuild three of five main line tracks that had been out of service for nine days for the Connecticut Department of Transportation’s project to rebuild the Atlantic Street Bridge in downtown Stamford.

Connecticut Department of Transportation to Extend Replacement Work on Atlantic Street Bridge in Stamford

MTA Metro-North Railroad advises New Haven Line customers that Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) crews will continue their work replacing the Atlantic Street Bridge located at the east end of the Stamford station.  To accommodate the extension of this CTDOT project, the special New Haven Line schedule that took effect on June 29, will continue an additional 48 hours, through Tuesday, July 9.

Regular service on the New Haven Line will resume with the first scheduled train on Wednesday, July 10.

Make Your Fourth of July Getaway on Metro-North Railroad

Declare your independence from traffic and tolls this Fourth of July holiday and take Metro-North to celebrate our nation's birthday. Metro-North Railroad will have lots of extra service on Wednesday, July 3, to help customers looking to get a jump start on the holiday.  

On Wednesday, July 3, there are 13 extra "getaway" departures from Grand Central Terminal between 1 p.m. and 4:11 p.m. as detailed below.

On Thursday, July 4, Metro-North will operate on a Sunday schedule. Grand Central North will be closed.

New Metro-North Hudson and Harlem Line Schedules Take Effect on Sunday, June 30

Metro-North Railroad today announced that new schedules on the Hudson Line and Harlem Line will take effect on Sunday, June 30.  The new schedules bring the return of full weekend service to and from Poughkeepsie on the Hudson Line, as well as additional trains in the morning and afternoon. Major infrastructure projects will be underway on the Harlem Line this summer, resulting in minor schedule adjustments and more reliable and dependable service for customers.

Connecticut Department of Transportation to Replace Atlantic Street Bridge in Stamford

MTA Metro-North Railroad advises customers that over the nine-day period from Saturday, June 29, through Sunday, July 7, the Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) will replace the Atlantic Street Bridge located at the east end of the Stamford station.

This bridge replacement work will reduce the number of main-line tracks available in Stamford from five to two, reducing track capacity by 60%; it also significantly constrains the railroad’s ability to move trains into and out of Stamford Yard, one of the two major train-servicing facilities on the New Haven Line.

Metro-North Railroad Announces Hudson Line Service Plan for PM Rush Hour

MTA Metro-North Railroad crews continue working to recover from a mudslide that took place last night between the Glenwood and Greystone stations on the Hudson Line. The mudslide was caused by water flowing down a steep embankment after a major fire in a nearby residential neighborhood.

This afternoon, crews have restored service on a second of the Hudson Line’s four tracks, with efforts continuing to reopen a third track.

Metro-North Crews to Make Infrastructure Improvements to Port Jervis Line This Weekend

MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that Metro-North crews will make infrastructure improvements to the Port Jervis Line this weekend.

As part of the complete upgrade of the Port Jervis Line signal system, crews will continue installation work on the section of track between Campbell Hall and west of Otisville. This new cab signal system needs to be in place to support Positive Train Control operations on the Port Jervis Line. Positive Train Control is a technology designed to reduce the potential for human error that can lead to train-involved accidents.

MTA Metro-North Railroad advises customers that from Saturday, June 22 through Sunday, June 23, Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) crews will doing prep work to replace the Atlantic Street Bridge located at the east end of the Stamford station.
