Metro-North Train Service Will Not Be Impacted

MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that to accommodate track work, the Cleveland Street railroad crossing in Valhalla will close to vehicular traffic at approximately 9 p.m. tomorrow, Friday, June 24, and is expected to reopen at 5 p.m. on Monday, June 27. There will be no impact to train service.

A posted detour will direct drivers to Legion Drive, one block north of Cleveland Street. Drivers are asked to use caution when traveling through the work area and to pay particular attention to all traffic control devices, including work zone signs and flaggers.

Metro-North Makes It Easy For Cyclists To Join “Discover Hudson Valley Ride” on Sunday, June 26

Metro-North is a fast, hassle free and safe way for cyclists to travel to the Discover Hudson Valley Ride at Victor C. Waryas Park, in Poughkeepsie, New York on Sunday, June 26. On the day of the ride, Metro-North will be suspending its bicycle permit on certain Hudson Line trains. All bike routes begin and end at the Victor C. Waryas Park, located right next to Metro-North’s Poughkeepsie station stop.

Metro-North Track Worker Safety Program Receives Top Honor From American Public Transportation Association

MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that it has earned the highest safety award from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA). The commendation, known as the Gold Award for Safety, was given to Metro-North for developing a state-of-the art employee protection system that other railroads could consider replicating. The system, known as the Enhanced Employee Protection System (EEPS), was implemented in 2014.

1906 Electrification of Grand Central Terminal Designated as Historic Milestone By Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers

MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced it accepted an award from the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers for the 1906 electrification of Grand Central Terminal. The award, known as the IEEE Milestone in Electrical Engineering and Computing, is a bronze plaque to be mounted on a wall at Grand Central Terminal. It was presented to Joseph Giulietti, President of Metro-North, by IEEE Past President, Dr. Howard Michel, at a ceremony at the Terminal today.

Metro-North Best Way for Soccer Fans to Travel to NYC Football Club Tournament at Fordham University on Wednesday, June 15

MTA Metro-North Railroad will expand service this Wednesday, June 15, to accommodate an estimated 6,000 fans expected to attend the soccer match between the New York City Football Club and the NY Cosmos at 7:30 p.m. at Fordham University’s Jack Coffey Field. The field is located on Southern Blvd., less than a half mile walk from the Fordham Metro-North station. Riding Metro-North is a convenient, easy and stress-free way to travel to the game.

Substitute Bus Service Provided between Southeast and Wassaic From Friday Evening, June 10 Through Sunday, June 12

After 10 p.m. on Friday, June 10, buses will replace select trains on Metro-North Railroad’s Harlem Line at all stations between Wassaic and Southeast. From Saturday, June 11, through 2 a.m., Monday, June 13, substitute bus service will be provided for all trains between Southeast and Wassaic.

Buses will operate 15-30 minutes earlier than scheduled trains. Customers should listen for announcements and check local or express bus service to their destination while boarding.

Southbound Trains Not Stopping at Melrose Station On Saturday, June 4, Through Sunday, June 5

After 11 p.m., on Friday, June 3, Grand Central Terminal-bound trains will not stop at Metro-North Railroad’s Melrose station on the Harlem Line. Regularly scheduled train service will resume after 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 6.

To Melrose, Saturday, June 4 – Sunday, June 5

Customers traveling from Westchester or Bronx stations to Melrose will transfer to buses at the Tremont station for continuing service to Melrose. Buses are scheduled to connect directly with arriving trains.

Metro-North and Connecticut Department of Transportation Sign ‘Partnering Letter’

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced that Metro-North Railroad and the Connecticut Department of Transportation have signed a “partnering letter” agreeing to a strong, collaborative effort as plans are finalized to replace the Walk railroad bridge – the 120-year-old bridge over the Norwalk River that swings open and closed to accommodate marine traffic below.
