Schedules Change on the Port Jervis and Pascack Valley Lines This Sunday January 17, 2010

On Sunday, January 17, 2010 the West of Hudson train schedules for MTA Metro-North Railroad's Port Jervis and Pascack Valley Lines are going to be adjusted so that there is just enough time, space and place for all the trains to operate more reliably.

These changes are minor adjustments in connections between Secaucus Junction and Penn Station-NY due to a location shift in Amtrak's ongoing concrete tie replacement program.

MTA Metro-North Railroad Achieves What Everyone Desires: A Perfect Weekend

On Saturday, January 9 and Sunday, January 10, Metro-North ran 757 trains on three lines, Hudson, Harlem and New Haven east of the Hudson and every one of those trains operated with 100 percent on time performance. In addition, NJTRANSIT, our partner, operated 76 trains on our two lines, the Port Jervis and Pascack Valley west of the Hudson, also with 100 percent on time performance.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a Special Day for Metro-North Trains as Well

On Monday, January 18, MTA Metro-North Railroad will be operating on a special half-holiday schedule. This schedule is shown in the October 18th timetable now in effect.

In addition, Grand Central North—the passageways that lead north from the train platforms—will be closed.

Although the financial markets are closed, many offices remain open. Metro-North expects to carry about 60 percent of its normal Monday ridership.

New Entrance to the Grand Central North Being Built On 47th Street Between Park and Lexington Avenues

A new street entrance to the underground corridors serving Grand Central Terminal is being built on the south side of 47th Street midway between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue.

The new entrance will include a reversible escalator connecting the street level to the 47th Street cross passageway as well as a staircase from the street to the platform between Tracks 11 and 13 and from the platform down into the cross passageway. Currently the east end of the 47th Street cross passageway has no outlet.

For MTA Metro-North Railroad, its customers, and the communities it serves, the year 2009 was marked by major improvements and advancements in transportation including an unsurpassed 97.8 percent on-time performance record for the year.

The much-celebrated Yankees-East 153rd Street Station opened to acclaim and proved an immediate success with as much as 15% of Yankee game attendees arriving via Metro-North. As a local Bronx station on the Hudson Line, daily ridership is picking up, especially among people going north to jobs in Westchester.

MTA Metro-North Railroad Announces Vending Machine Program Projects Revenues of $3 Million Over 10 Years

Metro-North Railroad is seeking MTA Board approval for an exclusive contract with Answer Vending Inc. of Farmingdale, NY to provide beverage and snack vending machines at its stations and employee facilities to improve customer amenities and increase non-fare revenues.

Port Jervis Track Work Requires Buses Substitute for Trains On Saturday December 5 and Sunday December 6

To allow necessary track work along the Port Jervis Line, beginning Saturday, December 5, at 12:15 a.m. and continuing through 7:45 p.m. Sunday, December 6, customers at Port Jervis and Otisville stations will ride buses to and from the Middletown station, where trains will originate and terminate.

Buses will depart Port Jervis at scheduled train departure times. Buses will depart Otisville 10 minutes earlier than scheduled train departure times.

The Park Avenue Bridge in Mount Vernon to Close for Reconstruction

The century-old Park Avenue Bridge in Mount Vernon, which carries vehicular traffic over the Metro-North Railroad's New Haven Line, will close for reconstruction on Monday December 7.

Funding for the $10 million project was provided by Governor David A. Paterson to the New York State Department of Transportation from money allocated as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
