MTA Metro-North Railroad On A Saturday Schedule On Presidents' Day

On Monday, February 15th Metro-North Railroad will operate a Saturday schedule with eight extra trains in the peaks. Off-peak fares will apply all day.



The following extra trains will operate on Presidents' Day only:

Hudson Line:

- A 6:41 AM express train departing Grand Central, arriving in Poughkeepsie at 8:34 AM.

Harlem Line:

- A 6:06 AM local train departing Grand Central, arriving at North White Plains at 6:58 AM.

- A 7:15 AM local train leaving Grand Central and arriving Southeast at 8:52 AM.

Since mid-January, when MTA Metro-North railroad launched its new service, Train Time, more than 71,000 "hits" show it's a real hit with customers. And live demonstrations are now going to hit the following stations:

Hastings on Tuesday, February 9th

Brewster on Tuesday, February 16th

Port Chester on Tuesday, February 23rd

From 7 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Metro-North Customer Service representatives will demonstrate how this convenient, real-time train status and schedule information is easily accessible via smart phones and computers.

Thunder Ridge Ski Trails Begin on Metro-North

On weekends through March 14, a great day of skiing can begin from any Metro-North Harlem Line train station. Metro-North offers skiers and snow boarders a discounted rail and discounted trail package for the celebrated Thunder Ridge ski area in Paterson, NY.

No need for a car! A free shuttle bus will meet your train. And you can sleep on the way home. Skiers and boarders have the option of going for a day, a night or for an entire weekend.

Metro-North Train Time ™ to Give Real-Time Train Status On Smart Phones and Computers

Convenient, real-time train status and schedule information is now available via smart phones and computers through MTA Metro-North Railroad's innovative, user-friendly Metro-North Train Time system.

Using a web-enabled smart phone or computer, select a station from the user-friendly drop-down menu and click! So far, 67 stations across all three lines are on-line, including Grand Central and Harlem-125th Street, and more will be added this spring.

New Café; Opens At The Larchmont Train Station

Commuters and residents of Larchmont have a new place to get great cup of coffee, espresso and a newspaper. Global Java II opens Monday January 18, at the Larchmont train station.

The beverage menu will feature latte, cappuccino, café; au lait, chai, regular Café; Americano and blended iced drinks. The food menu includes yogurt with granola and fruit, croissants, scones, biscotti, bagels and buttered rolls. Sundries, such as aspirin, candy and gum, also will be sold.

Schedules Change on the Port Jervis and Pascack Valley Lines This Sunday January 17, 2010

On Sunday, January 17, 2010 the West of Hudson train schedules for MTA Metro-North Railroad's Port Jervis and Pascack Valley Lines are going to be adjusted so that there is just enough time, space and place for all the trains to operate more reliably.

These changes are minor adjustments in connections between Secaucus Junction and Penn Station-NY due to a location shift in Amtrak's ongoing concrete tie replacement program.

MTA Metro-North Railroad Achieves What Everyone Desires: A Perfect Weekend

On Saturday, January 9 and Sunday, January 10, Metro-North ran 757 trains on three lines, Hudson, Harlem and New Haven east of the Hudson and every one of those trains operated with 100 percent on time performance. In addition, NJTRANSIT, our partner, operated 76 trains on our two lines, the Port Jervis and Pascack Valley west of the Hudson, also with 100 percent on time performance.

Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is a Special Day for Metro-North Trains as Well

On Monday, January 18, MTA Metro-North Railroad will be operating on a special half-holiday schedule. This schedule is shown in the October 18th timetable now in effect.

In addition, Grand Central North—the passageways that lead north from the train platforms—will be closed.

Although the financial markets are closed, many offices remain open. Metro-North expects to carry about 60 percent of its normal Monday ridership.

New Entrance to the Grand Central North Being Built On 47th Street Between Park and Lexington Avenues

A new street entrance to the underground corridors serving Grand Central Terminal is being built on the south side of 47th Street midway between Park Avenue and Lexington Avenue.

The new entrance will include a reversible escalator connecting the street level to the 47th Street cross passageway as well as a staircase from the street to the platform between Tracks 11 and 13 and from the platform down into the cross passageway. Currently the east end of the 47th Street cross passageway has no outlet.
