New West of Hudson Timetables In Effect

Following construction season track improvements, new West of Hudson schedules went into effect on Sunday, November 8, 2009.

On the Port Jervis Line: With the completion of work on the interlocking at Harriman, travel times have been reduced by one minute on westbound trips from Harriman to Port Jervis.

On the Pascack Valley Line: Look for a new inbound train for the "night owl" crowd. The new train departs Spring Valley at 11:26 p.m., making all local stops, arriving Hoboken at 12:43 a.m. and Penn Station-NY (via Secaucus Junction) at 12:56 a.m.

MTA Metro-North Railroad Adds Trains For Yankees Parade Tomorrow

MTA Metro-North Railroad is adding trains tomorrow to accommodate baseball fans who want to attend the tickertape parade for the World Champion New York Yankees up the "Canyon of Heroes" on Lower Broadway.

On the Hudson Line, an extra train will depart Poughkeepsie at 8:41 a.m. and make stops at New Hamburg, Beacon and Peekskill then go express to Grand Central, arriving at 10:11 a.m.

Going home, there will be an extra Poughkeepsie express departing Grand Central at 2:40 p.m.

In Less Than Six Months, Popularity of New Yankees-E. 153rd Street Station Surges

MTA Metro-North Railroad set a new record for ridership last night when 6,009 people took the train to the game at the new Yankees – E. 153rd Street Station to attend the World Series clincher. Of the 50,315 attendees, 12% arrived via Metro-North!

The previous highest ridership of the 2009 baseball season was August 8, when 5,582 fans took Metro-North to the Yankees-Red Sox game.

New Ticket Vending Machine Center Opens In Grand Central

Just in time for the busy holiday travel season, Metro-North Railroad has opened a new ticket machine center in Grand Central Terminal, located just under the archway leading to the Lexington Avenue subway.

This new customer service facility is intended to alleviate long lines at ticket windows and in the other ticket vending machine center opposite Track 32 diagonally across the Main Concourse.

MTA Metro-North Railroad to Replace Bridge At Carmel Brook Buses To Replace Train Service on the Upper Harlem for November 7 and 8

On Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8, buses will replace train service between the Southeast and Wassaic train stations.

The buses will follow the train schedules.

This change is due to the necessary work to replace the bridge in the vicinity of Carmel Brook.

Buses Will Replace New Canaan Branch Train Service This Weekend

Buses will replace New Canaan Branch train service on Saturday, November 7 and Sunday, November 8, 2009. Buses will follow train schedules.

This service change is being done to accommodate switch and signal work along the branch by the Connecticut Department of Transportation and MTA Metro-North Railroad.

During this work to improve the right-of-way, about 500 people will be affected each day.

MTA Metro-North Railroad Offers Direct Service to the 2009 World Series

For games one and two, tonight and Thursday, MTA Metro-North Railroad will provide pre-game direct trains from the Harlem and New Haven Lines as well as additional game service on the Hudson Line. The games start at 7:57 p.m. with the Yankees playing the Phillies.

Shuttle service between Grand Central, Harlem-125th Street and the Yankees - E. 153rd Street station will operate every 10 to 15 during the peak travel periods before and after the games. During the game, trains will operate every 30 minutes.

As the New York Yankees move into the playoffs with a 6:07 p.m. start tonight against the Minnesota Twins for the American League division series, Metro-North Railroad stepped up to the plate to provide special direct trains to the stadium from all three lines, Hudson, Harlem and New Haven.

Midday Busing Planned for Port Jervis Line To Allow For Continued Capital Improvements

Buses will substitute for several midday Port Jervis Line trains operating between Harriman and Port Jervis stations from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. beginning October 12 and continuing through November 20.

This will allow for the replacement of 9,700 ties, replacement of "stick" rail with three miles of continuous welded rail (CWR) from Harriman to Central Valley and 1.2 miles of CWR from Hudson Junction and Campbell Hall for a smoother ride.
