MTA Metro-North Railroad's Emergency Preparedness Exercise on May 16 Involves Eight Agencies from Westchester and New York City

Preparing for disaster, derailments, hazardous material spills, collisions, etc. requires constant training and Saturday, MTA Metro-North Railroad will conduct an emergency simulation with the participation of eight agencies from Westchester County and New York City.

The exercise is being conducted jointly by the MTA Police Department's Interagency Counter-Terrorism Task Force and the City of Mount Vernon.

West of Hudson Regional Transit Access Study Open House Set for June 1 in Newburgh

MTA Metro-North Railroad will hold a second Open House June 1, 2009 to present the latest information on the West of Hudson Regional Transit Access Alternatives Analysis/ Environmental Impact Statement Study.

After months of reviewing more than 80 alternatives for improving the quality of transit services connecting Central Orange County to Manhattan and for improving transit access to Stewart International Airport (SWF) from the mid-Hudson Valley and New York City, the study has reached a critical milestone.

New Shuttle Bus Between New Fairfield, CT and Southeast, NY Expands Transportation Options Beginning May 18

Three new park and ride lots and a new shuttle bus between New Fairfield, CT and the Southeast railroad station begins May 18 to improve access to MTA Metro-North Railroad's Harlem Line train service.

Danbury Branch customers who have a relatively limited number of trains from which to choose, and area residents unable to get a parking permit at a Harlem Line station, will now have shuttle access to more frequent trains and more express trains.

New MTA Metro-North Railroad Timetables for Hudson Line Effective May 3 Includes Yankees – E. 153rd Street Station Stops Beginning May 23rd

Metro-North's new timetables effective May 3, with schedule adjustments on the Upper Hudson Line to accommodate track work, will for the first time show service to the new station at Yankees – E. 153rd Street, which opens Saturday May 23, 2009.

Schedules Change on the Port Jervis and Pascack Valley Lines Turning Good into Better on April 19

The West of Hudson train schedules for MTA Metro-North's Port Jervis and Pascack Valley Lines are going to be adjusted so that there is just enough time, space, and place for all the trains to operate more reliably. These changes are minor adjustments—but minor adjustments can make for major improvements.

On the Port Jervis Line, the 6:08 p.m. train from Hoboken will now operate three minutes later.

Train Service to MTA Metro-North Railroad's Newest Station Yankees – E. 153rd Street Begins Saturday May 23, 2009

With station construction on schedule, MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that train service to the new Yankees – E.153rd Street Station will begin on Saturday May 23, 2009, with regular daily service 365 days a year and special game day schedules too.

Train service begins exactly 24 months after the design-build contract was signed.

Historic Tarrytown Train Station Next for Restoration

MTA Metro-North Railroad is set to begin restoration of the historic Tarrytown train station building this spring complete with a new slate roof, gutters, canopy supports, and reconstruction of three roof dormers that were removed decades ago.

New, One-Month Timetable Takes Effect April 5 Will Allow Track Work on Upper Hudson

MTA Metro-North's new April 5, timetable will make temporary schedule changes on the Upper Hudson Line to allow installation of concrete ties, add service to the New Haven-State Street Station and make minor changes in response to customer requests and to improve on-time performance.

The Upper Hudson work will require single tracking and some bus substitutions. Two more schedule changes will occur before Hudson Line schedules return to their previous pattern when concrete tie installation is complete, in July 2009.

Hop Aboard Metro-North's Bunny Express April 4, 2009

Looking for something fun to do with the little ones? Then come on over to Grand Central Terminal where Group Travel Bunnies will meet children of all ages as they hop aboard Metro-North's "Bunny Express" on Saturday, April 4, 2009.

This special one-day excursion includes a round-trip train ride along the Hudson River, a visit from a Group Travel Bunny aboard the train and a special goody bag for the children, a coloring book and crayons, juice and a snack.

The bunny loves to pose for photos, so parents should bring cameras along.
