Metro-North Gives Customers a Head Start on the Labor Day Weekend

Why work hard to enjoy the Labor Day weekend? MTA Metro-North Railroad has plenty of convenient train service to get you where you need to go for the entire holiday weekend starting Friday, September 1, and continuing through Labor Day, Monday, September 4.

On Friday, September 1, Metro-North will offer 17 early-afternoon “getaway” trains departing Grand Central Terminal between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Metro-North to Make Upper Harlem Line Improvements on August 22 and August 25-27

MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that to ensure the on-going reliability and safety of the Harlem Line, Metro-North crews will perform critical work on the Upper Harlem Line on Tuesday, August 22, and for the continuous weekend period starting after 10 p.m. on Friday, August 25 until the first scheduled train on Monday, August 28. Metro-North crews are renewing the Mill Street crossing in Dover Plains, replacing the crossing surface, rails and ties. While this work is underway, crews will install a temporary crossing to keep traffic moving safely in and out of the hamlet.

Metro-North to Hold August 23 Public Hearing to Increase Service at Melrose and Tremont Stations

MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that it will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, August 23, inviting customers to comment on a plan to permanently increase service levels at the Melrose and Tremont stations on the Harlem Line. The hearing will be held at 5 p.m. at agency headquarters on 2 Broadway in Lower Manhattan.

Metro-North to Make Lower Harlem Line Improvements on August 5-6

MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that to ensure the on-going reliability and safety of the Harlem and New Haven Lines, crews will perform critical work on the Bronx Drainage project, installing a series of drain pipes, inlets and connections to city sewers. The drainage facilities are installed both beneath and outside the tracks between Melrose and Tremont, which requires removing one of the tracks from service for this crucial work.

UPDATE: Previously Announced Waterbury Branch Busing for This Weekend, July 28-30, Is Cancelled

MTA Metro-North Railroad advises customers that this weekend’s previously announced substitute busing on the Waterbury Branch has been cancelled. Scheduled Waterbury Branch track work has been postponed, and substitute busing will no longer be required. Waterbury Branch track work will resume as scheduled next weekend, August 4-6. Metro-North crews will continue making extensive improvements to the branch, including renewing railroad crossings in Milford. Elsewhere along the tracks, crews will cut brush and weld rail joints.

UPDATE: Previously Announced Busing Between Melrose and Tremont for This Weekend, July 22-23, Is Cancelled

MTA Metro-North Railroad advises customers that this weekend’s previously announced substitute busing between Melrose and Tremont has been cancelled.

Metro-North crews will continue to perform the scheduled track improvement work, but the work has shifted to an adjacent track, and busing will no longer be required.

Metro-North has many channels for all schedule information and service updates.

MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that to ensure the on-going reliability and safety of the Harlem Line, Metro-North crews will perform critical work on the Upper Harlem Line from Thursday, July 20 to Sunday, July 23. Metro-North crews will make extensive improvements to the Line, including renewing the River Road grade crossing in Pawling, replacing the crossing surface, rails and ties. Crews will also remove and rebuild masonry at a culvert north of the Appalachian Trail station; this work will improve drainage in the area to reduce the risk of flooding.

Metro-North to Make Waterbury Branch Track Improvements During Weekends of July 14-16, 21-23, 28-30 and August 4-6

MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that to ensure the on-going reliability and safety of the Waterbury Branch, crews will perform comprehensive track improvement work on the Waterbury Branch over four consecutive weekends: July 14-16, 21-23, 28-30 and August 4-6. Over the next four weekends, Metro-North crews will make extensive improvements to the branch, including renewing three railroad crossings in Milford. Crews will replace the crossing surfaces, rails and ties at each location. Crews will also upgrade the Washington Avenue Bridge in Waterbury with new timbers.

Metro-North to Make Danbury Branch Track Improvements Friday, July 7, Through Sunday, July 9

MTA Metro-North Railroad today announced that to ensure the ongoing safety and reliability of the Danbury Branch, crews will perform track improvement work on the branch this weekend, July 7-9. Metro-North crews will make improvements to the Long Ridge Road railroad crossing in Redding, replacing the crossing surface, rails and ties. Elsewhere along the tracks, crews will cut brush and weld rail joints.
