MTA railroads will provide extra service on Friday, August 29, to help customers get a head start on the long holiday weekend. All MTA services will operate on reduced schedules on Labor Day. Details are below.

MTA to Invest in Additional Safety Measures
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced a series of new and enhanced safety initiatives to better ensure the safety of its customers and employees. The safety investments are based on new mandates; recommendations by governmental bodies; compliance with existing laws, policies and procedures; and new MTA initiatives such as those supporting New York City’s “Vision Zero” initiative.

MTA’s Proposed 2015 Budget and Four Year Financial Plan Maintain Fare and Toll Increases at Projected Levels
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today released its Proposed 2015 Budget and Four-Year Financial Plan, which includes budget projections through 2018. The plan assumes an average $260 million annual increase to labor costs as a result of recent labor settlements, but the plan proposes to pay for those costs without increasing the previously announced 2015 and 2017 fare and toll increase proposals, which in February were reduced by nearly half to the rate of inflation.

MTA Asks LIRR Unions to Return to Bargaining Table
The MTA remains committed to resolving this dispute at the bargaining table. As Governor Cuomo said, a strike would disrupt families and business across the New York metropolitan region, and the only way to prevent a strike is for both sides to negotiate a fair and reasonable settlement at the bargaining table. We have asked the LIRR unions to resume negotiations immediately.

July MTA Board and Committee Meetings Rescheduled as a Precaution to Avoid Conflict with any Potential LIRR Disruption
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced today the July MTA Board and Committee meetings have been rescheduled in order to avoid any conflict with a potential strike impacting the Long Island Rail Road.  Committee meetings previously scheduled for Monday, July 21 have been rescheduled for the following Monday, July 28 at the following times:

MTA Announces Details of Contingency Transportation Actions in Case of Labor-Related LIRR Service Disruption
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced plans to provide limited transportation to New Yorkers in the event Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) service is disrupted by a labor action as early as July 20. Buses, ferries and park-and-ride lots would all be mobilized to help New Yorkers travel in the event trains stop running.
