MTA Service Update for Spring Religious Holidays

The New York City Subway and Staten Island Railway will operate on regular weekday schedules throughout Passover, which starts on Monday, March 25, and on Good Friday, March 29. A normal Sunday schedule will be in effect on Easter Sunday, March 31. However, there will be some adjustments to MTA services as noted below.

New York City Buses

On Good Friday, March 29, there will be no limited-stop bus service in Staten Island on the S81, S84, S86, S90, S91, S92, S94, S96 and S98 bus routes.

Brooklyn’s Smith-9th Streets FG Station Set to Re-Open in Late April

The world’s highest subway station is set to re-open again after a two-year rehabilitation project that brought a ground up renewal to the 79-year old facility that serves as the gateway to Red Hook.  F and G trains will begin making regular stops at the station the week of April 22.

CANCELLATION: This work is canceled both nights and will be rescheduled. Bronx-Whitestone Bridge 15-Minute Full Bridge Closure Scheduled Overnight Fri., March 22nd and Sat., March 23rd

The Bronx-Whitestone Bridge will be closed in both directions overnight for approximately 15 minutes on Friday, March 22nd and Saturday, March 23rd for the installation and removal of overhead sign structures.

The full bridge closure will take place on Friday between 1 a.m. and 3 a.m. and on Saturday between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m.

FASTRACK Comes to the Upper East Side

On Monday, March 25, MTA New York City Transit brings FASTRACK to the Upper East Side of Manhattan on the 4, 5, and 6 Lines.   All Lexington Avenue trains run express in both directions between 125th Street and Grand Central-42nd Street making stops at 59th Street and 86th Street from 10 p.m. until 5 a.m., for four consecutive weeknights from Monday, March 25 to early Friday morning, March 29.

The MTA’s top-to-bottom rehabilitation of the East 180th Street 25 subway station rededicated today has recaptured the grandeur its original builders had in mind when the century-old North Bronx transit terminal served as the administration building for the old New York, Westchester and Boston Railway system.

Metr O’North Plans Extra Trains for Saturday’s St. Patrick’s Parade

This year Manhattan’s St. Patrick's Day Parade is on a weekend, Saturday, March 16th, and to accommodate larger-than-usual crowds, Metro-North will be operating 17 extra inbound trains in addition to the regular Saturday schedule.

Metro-North is a popular way to get to the parade, which begins at 11 a.m. at 44th Street and Fifth Avenue, just two blocks from Grand Central Terminal.

Please note: On Saturday, March 16th, alcohol will not be allowed all day on trains, platforms and at stations. MTA Police will enforce this restriction.

Take LIRR to Montauk St. Patrick’s Day Parade Sunday, March 17

Are you heading to the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Montauk, L.I., this Sunday? Well, the Long Island Rail Road can get you there.

Montauk-bound customers can take the 7:42 AM from Penn Station or a train departing at the same time from Atlantic Terminal in Brooklyn, connect at Jamaica and arrive in in the famed seaside village at 10:46 AM. That’s plenty of time to make the parade, which is scheduled to get under way at 11:30 AM.
