MTA Warns Customers Not to Provide Credit Card Information to Third-Party Websites That Solicit Unofficial Lost Property Reports
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is reminding customers that if they have lost an item on a train or bus, or at a station, they can submit a lost property claim free of charge and directly to the MTA online, by phone, or in person. There is no charge for submitting a lost property claim to the MTA’s lost and found offices.

MTA Announces Getaway Service for Memorial Day Weekend

Cyclists: Ride with the MTA to the TD Five Boro Bike Tour
This Sunday, May 4, New York City will host the TD Five Boro Bike Tour, attracting more than 30,000 cyclists from around the region and beyond. The MTA is the best way to get to the ride safely and on time.
The New York City Subway, Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad all allow bicycles year-round. But special accommodations are made for this tour once a year. Street closures will mean some changes for buses and motorists.  Tips and details are below.

MTA Expedites Positive Train Control Installation Efforts
In a move to enhance the safety of Metro-North Railroad and Long Island Rail Road signaling systems sooner, Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Board committees today approved the expansion of a contract with a joint venture of Bombardier Transportation/Siemens Rail Automation by an additional $11.3 million. The Bombardier/Siemens joint venture is serving as the MTA’s Positive Train Control system integrator under a $428.5 million contract awarded last November. The contract amendment goes to the full MTA Board for consideration on Wednesday.

MTA Advances Contract to Develop Ticketing Apps For Metro-North Railroad and Long Island Rail Road Customers
Committees of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Board today registered their approval of a contract to launch a mobile ticketing program that for the first time would enable Metro-North Railroad and Long Island Rail Road customers to buy and display train tickets on their smartphones and tablets. The contract, with Masabi, LLC, moves to the full MTA Board for final consideration on Wednesday.

MTA Hosts Two-Year Vanadium Battery Demonstration Project at Energy Star-Certified Headquarters in Lower Manhattan
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced today that it will host a two-year demonstration of a vanadium battery module designed to help manage energy use at the MTA’s headquarters in downtown Manhattan.
The project is a partnership between the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) and American Vanadium Corp., which is providing the vanadium battery called a CellCubeTM. The company markets and sells the CellCubeTM Vanadium Flow Battery technology in North America.

MTA Awards Contracts for East Side Access Manhattan Tunnels and Caverns
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced that it has awarded two contracts valued at $627.79 million to contractors who will line more than 10,000 linear feet of newly excavated tunnels with permanent structural concrete walls, and install complex communications systems in Grand Central Terminal’s future Long Island Rail Road concourse.
