Iris Weinshall Joins MTA Board

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced that Iris Weinshall will join the MTA Board effective July 1, assuming the seat currently occupied by Mark D. Lebow.

Weinshall was confirmed to the position today by the New York Senate after being recently nominated by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo. She had been recommended to Governor Cuomo by Mayor Bill de Blasio.

Two New Members Join MTA Board
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced that two new members are joining the MTA Board. New York City Transportation Commissioner Polly Trottenberg will assume the seat formerly occupied by former New York City Budget Director Mark Page. Neal Zuckerman of the Metro-North Railroad Commuter Council will take the non-voting seat formerly occupied by the Council’s Jim Blair.

MTA Warns Customers Not to Provide Credit Card Information to Third-Party Websites That Solicit Unofficial Lost Property Reports
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is reminding customers that if they have lost an item on a train or bus, or at a station, they can submit a lost property claim free of charge and directly to the MTA online, by phone, or in person. There is no charge for submitting a lost property claim to the MTA’s lost and found offices.

MTA Announces Getaway Service for Memorial Day Weekend

Cyclists: Ride with the MTA to the TD Five Boro Bike Tour
This Sunday, May 4, New York City will host the TD Five Boro Bike Tour, attracting more than 30,000 cyclists from around the region and beyond. The MTA is the best way to get to the ride safely and on time.
The New York City Subway, Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad all allow bicycles year-round. But special accommodations are made for this tour once a year. Street closures will mean some changes for buses and motorists.  Tips and details are below.

MTA Expedites Positive Train Control Installation Efforts
In a move to enhance the safety of Metro-North Railroad and Long Island Rail Road signaling systems sooner, Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Board committees today approved the expansion of a contract with a joint venture of Bombardier Transportation/Siemens Rail Automation by an additional $11.3 million. The Bombardier/Siemens joint venture is serving as the MTA’s Positive Train Control system integrator under a $428.5 million contract awarded last November. The contract amendment goes to the full MTA Board for consideration on Wednesday.
