Governor Cuomo Announces Parsons Brinckerhoff Will Lead Preliminary Engineering and Design Process for LaGuardia AirTrain

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey selected Parsons Brinckerhoff Inc. to conduct preliminary engineering and other planning work for a new AirTrain connection to LaGuardia Airport. The firm’s work will take a major step forward in advancing the LaGuardia AirTrain project – which will create a much-needed rail link to the airport. LaGuardia is currently the only major East Coast airport without rail access.

MTA Announces Special Off-Peak Service to Belmont for Thoroughbred Racing

Thoroughbred racing returns to Belmont Park on Friday, April 28, as the racetrack’s 2017 Spring-Summer meet gets underway. And once again, the Long Island Rail Road and New York Racing Association (NYRA) have joined together to provide daily train service for racing fans. Fans who ride the LIRR can get $1 off grandstand admission by showing a train ticket or MTA eTix app screen.

MTA Calls Climate Change ‘Urgent Reality’ as it Launches New Report on Preparation for Sea Level Rise & Other Coastal Dangers

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority cited the “urgent reality” of climate change in a new report on public transit projects that are preparing for sea level rise, storm surges and other climate-related dangers to this coastal region. MTA Interim Executive Director Ronnie Hakim also reminded tri-state-area residents of the environmental benefits of choosing mass transit, encouraging the public to think about sustainability long after Earth Day, and throughout the year.

Governor Cuomo Announces Janno Lieber Appointed MTA Chief Development Officer

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo and Metropolitan Transportation Authority Interim Executive Director Ronnie Hakim today announced that Janno Lieber, a senior private sector real estate development and construction executive who is the current President of World Trade Center Properties, will join the senior executive ranks of the MTA as Chief Development Officer. In this newly created position, Lieber will take over leadership and oversight of key strategic capital initiatives focused on increasing the capacity of the system.

24 PM Rush Hour LIRR Trains From Penn Station to Be Canceled or Diverted as Amtrak Crews Continue to Repair Tracks at Penn Station

As Amtrak crews continue to work at Penn Station to repair track damage caused by an NJ TRANSIT derailment on Monday morning, the Long Island Rail Road must operate a reduced PM rush hour schedule, which includes 16 trains canceled from Penn Station between 4 p.m. and 8 p.m., and eight others diverted to originate elsewhere.

10 Trains to Be Canceled During Thursday Morning Rush Hour as Amtrak Crews Continue Track Repairs at Penn Station

As Amtrak crews continue repairing track damage at Penn Station, the Long Island Rail Road must cancel 10 trains to Penn Station between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m., terminate three trains at Jamaica, and divert one train to Hunterspoint Avenue, Queens, because of reduced tracks available by Amtrak.

New York City Transit will cross-honor LIRR tickets at Jamaica, Atlantic Terminal and Hunterspoint Avenue.

Metro-North Railroad is advising customers on its West-of-Hudson lines to travel to New York City via Hoboken and PATH trains as opposed to changing trains at Secaucus.
