MTA Railroads to Provide Special Service on St. Patrick’s Day
The Long Island Rail Road and Metro-North Railroad will operate extra trains to help those traveling to New York City for the 253rd St. Patrick’s Day Parade on Monday, March 17. 
Customers are advised not to bring alcoholic beverages, open or closed, on trains, platforms and stations through 5 a.m. on March 18. Alcoholic beverages will be confiscated by the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) Police. Bar carts at Grand Central and Penn Station will not operate this day.

MTA Prepares For Challenging Friday Commute

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is preparing for challenging Friday morning commute as another wave of storms dumps more wet snow on the New York area overnight. Most MTA services will operate with reduced schedules Friday morning, but the weather forecast is still uncertain. Service remains subject to change at any time, including temporary suspensions on some portions of the MTA network.

Governor Cuomo Directs State Agencies to Prepare for Impending Nor'easter Winter Storm

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today directed state agencies to prepare winter storm fighting assets and personnel for an impending Nor’easter winter storm that is expected to hit New York State from late Wednesday through Thursday. As the storm approaches the state, the Governor reminded citizens to prepare properly and avoid unnecessary travel.

MTA Rush Hour Service Update
During this evening’s rush hour, the New York City Subway and Long Island Rail Road will operate on normal schedules. New York City bus service will run at 85-90 percent capacity and some detours, delays and suspensions are possible on a route-by-route basis. 
Metro-North Railroad, which carried about half of its normal rush hour ridership this morning, will operate 75% of its normal evening rush hour schedule today, across all lines, Hudson, Harlem and New Haven.

MTA Afternoon Off-Peak Service Update
This afternoon, the New York City Subway, the Long Island Rail Road, and Metro-North Railroad’s Harlem Line and Hudson Line will operate on regular schedules. New York City Buses will operate at 85% to 90% of usual strength.
On the New Haven Line, where ice accumulation has caused problems with overhead catenary wires, Metro-North will shift to hourly service between noon and 4 p.m. Four eastbound trains and four westbound trains will be canceled.

MTA Unveils New Round of Subway Art Cards
The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) announced the latest collection of graphic art placed in subway cars, slated for installation throughout January 2014. Three new art cards will adorn the panels in subway cars throughout the MTA system.  The art cards are seen close-up, by millions of riders throughout the year and provide a pleasing burst of creativity into the daily commute.
