MTA Releases New Details About Temporary Ferry Service During L Train Tunnel Reconstruction Starting April 2019

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority today announced increased capacity on the temporary ferry service being provided to l train riders while the  subway line’s tunnel is closed for 15 months for repair and resiliency work related to Superstorm Sandy.  In response to feedback from customers and elected officials, the temporary service will now include 240-passenger vessels that will provide up to 61% more capacity than originally planned.

MTA NYC Transit to Bring ‘Community Conversations’ to Queens, Manhattan to Highlight Fast Forward Plan for Subways, Buses & Paratransit

MTA New York City Transit will host two public “Community Conversation” events this October in Queens and in Upper Manhattan on the recently announced Fast Forward Plan to modernize the subway system and reimagine bus and paratransit service.  These town hall-style events provide opportunities for the public to learn about and comment on the Fast Forward Plan from Transit President Andy Byford.

Bus Service Improvements Coming to Brooklyn This Fall

MTA New York City Transit and the New York City Department of Transportation will implement Select Bus Service on the B82 route in Brooklyn starting Monday, Oct. 1, as part of an ongoing collaboration to improve bus speeds, attract customers and improve bus service reliability on popular bus routes across New York. Transit also will increase service on two local Brooklyn bus routes during off-peak travel times beginning September 30.

163 St-Amsterdam Av Station to Reopen After Structural Repairs & Functional Improvements

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced that the 163 St-Amsterdam Av station on the C Subway line will reopen for service in both directions on the afternoon of Thursday, Sept. 27, following work to repair deteriorating infrastructure and update the station environment with functional improvements such as digital signage for real-time service information, enhanced wayfinding and station entrances, modern energy-efficient lighting and updated security equipment.
