Statement on Bus Operator Dress

MTA New York City Transit's uniform policy permitting female bus operators to wear pants or culottes but not skirts is based primarily on the issue of safety. Driving a bus requires the performance of several duties, including the adjustment of mirrors on older model buses and safely securing wheelchair customers. Wearing a long skirt while performing these and other duties could pose a serious safety hazard.

J Line Suspensions During Summer Weekends for Track Work

For several weekends in June, July and the first weekend in August, service on the J line will be diverted in order to perform track work. Shuttle buses will replace J train service between Crescent Street and Jamaica Center-Parsons/Archer stations on the following schedule:

- 4 a.m. Saturday, June 2 to 10 p.m. Sunday, June 3

- 4 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday, June 9

- 4 a.m. Saturday, June 16 to 10 p.m. Sunday, June 17

- 4 a.m. Saturday, June 30 to 10 p.m. Sunday, July 1

- all following weekends through Aug 4-5.

Service Advisory Weekend Subway Changes Affecting Service on the 1247ACEFGNRW

Because of capital construction work on the NYC Transit subway system, the following changes will be in place over the weekend. This work is part of NYC Transit's ongoing $10 billion Capital Rebuilding Program aimed at upgrading and maintaining our tracks, stations and signal systems in order to continue to provide our customers with safe and reliable service.

From 12:01 p.m. Saturday, May 19 to 5 a.m. Monday, May 21, uptown 12 trains skip 50th, 59th, and 66th Streets due to station rehabilitation at 59th Street-Columbus Circle.

MTA NYC Transit Puts New Track Safety Initiatives in Place

Beginning immediately, MTA New York City Transit is implementing a series of interim track safety measures. The new initiatives take a fresh look at the issues associated with working along the-right of-way, covering the areas of communication, adjacent track operation, noise impairment, equipment and work procedures.

Developed cooperatively with the Transport Workers Union, these measures are meant to ensure the safety of track employees as they perform their duties in the subway environment.

Bus Shuttle Replaces L Service Overnight Between Broadway Junction and Lorimer Street Due to Emergency Switch Work

Due to emergency track switch work between Lorimer Street and Bedford Avenue in Brooklyn, L Line Service will be suspended in both directions between Broadway Junction and Lorimer Street in Brooklyn and there will be no L service to or from Manhattan between midnight tonight and 5 a.m. tomorrow (Wed.) A free substitute shuttle bus will operate between Broadway Junction and Lorimer Street.

2007 Five-Boro Bike Tour Takes Off on Sunday, May 6

Get rolling with the 2007 Commerce Bank Five-Boro Bike Tour!

The tour begins at 8 a.m. at Battery Park, travels through Manhattan, the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn, through historic Fort Wadsworth on Staten Island and back to Battery Park.

Q2 Adds Two Stops at Belmont Park Racetrack

In order to provide customers with better access to the Belmont Park Racetrack, MTA New York City Transit announces that the Q2 bus route will add two stops at the track near the LIRR overpass. This area is closed to all vehicles except the Q2 and Q110 buses. (The Q110 will use the same stops.) This service will be in effect from Wednesday, May 2 until Sunday, July 22, only when the racetrack is open.
