Rider Report Card Results Released For 5 Line

During the weekday rush periods, the 5 Line connects Eastchester/Dyre Avenue in the Bronx and Brooklyn College/Flatbush Avenue. Traveling south, the line runs between Dyre Avenue and E. 180th Street along the old Boston and Westchester Railroad right-of-way before joining the White Plains Road Line. At 149th Street/Grand Concourse, the 5 becomes one of two Lexington Avenue express services along the most heavily-used rapid transit corridor in the nation.

Whether it's a doctor's appointment after lunch, dinner and a Broadway show with friends, or just a late night at the office, knowing whether a subway line will be disrupted for planned construction work is vital information riders need to plan their trips. Now, weekday subway riders can know before they go, whether it's during the day or late at night, by subscribing to the NYC Transit E-mail Notification Program. With just a couple of mouse clicks and a few key strokes, subway riders can sign up to receive customized weekday subway diversion e-mails delivered to their inbox weekly.

Canarsie L Line Grade is in Second Line to Receive Subway Rider Report Card Rating

Subway riders who rely on the Canarsie L Line, which connects the Canarsie section of Brooklyn and the Chelsea section in Manhattan, have graded the line a C. 42,000 cards were handed out to riders over a three-day period in August. During the reply period, more than 4,000 report cards were received, 2,762 via regular mail and another 1,241 cards were filed via the Internet. Riders were asked to grade the line on 21 separate service attributes, including "Minimal delays during rush hour," "Sense of security in stations" and "Availability of MetroCard machines."

MTA New York City Transit Awards Medals of Excellence to its Employees

Bus Operator Ralph Fernandez had a first-hand view of the July 18th steam pipe rupture that ripped apart Lexington Avenue neat 42nd Street at the heart of the evening rush hour. It was his heroic actions in the moments after that event, however, that placed him alongside 50 fellow MTA New York City Transit workers who were recognized for acts of valor.
