MTA New York City Transit & MTA Bus Local & Express Bus Routes Affected By The Visit Of Pope Benedict XVI

Service Poster

During the visit of His Holiness Pope Benedict XVI to New York City, there will be several street closures that will impact NYC Transit and MTA Bus local and express bus service. Buses near locations the Pope will visit will be rerouted as directed by the New York City Police Department.

On Friday, April 18th, bus service on the East Side, especially in the vicinity of the United Nations, will be affected. Routes include:

- M15, M27, M30, M42, M50, M66, M72 and M104

WTC-Chambers Street E Elevator Out of Service due to Long Term Construction

ADA Customers Must Use Alternate Routes

Beginning Friday, April 11, 2008, customers who rely on elevator service at the WTC-Chambers Street E Station will no longer have access to elevators at this location due to ongoing construction at the World Trade Center site. Information detailing alternate travel information and suggestions will be posted in stations beginning tomorrow.

In an ongoing effort to encourage more people to "Take the Train to the Game" when the New York Mets play home games at Shea Stadium, MTA New York City Transit yesterday announced that it will for the first time introduce Manhattan-bound 7 Express service after all Mets weekend home games at Shea, in addition to the Manhattan-bound 7 Express service introduced last year after weeknight games.

While keeping a fleet of 6,200 subway cars spotlessly clean is a difficult challenge, we are pleased to note that the Straphangers Campaign has recognized our efforts along the 7 and L, the two lines that have been the focus of a shift in management philosophy that places a high priority on the customer concerns of cleanliness by making certain that cars are cleaned at both terminals.
