MTA NYC Transit Adds Stops to S93 Limited

Beginning on Monday, April 9, 2007, MTA New York City Transit will add four new bus stops in each direction on the S93 Limited bus route.

The new stops are on Narrows Road at Richmond Road, Targee Street, Hylan Boulevard and Fingerboard Road. These additions will facilitate transfer connections to the S52, S78, S74/S84, and S76/S86 bus routes.

Because of capital construction work on the NYC Transit subway system, the following changes will be in place over the weekend. This work is part of NYC Transit's ongoing $10 billion Capital Rebuilding Program aimed at upgrading and maintaining our tracks, stations and signal systems in order to continue to provide our customers with safe and reliable service.

From 12:01 a.m. Saturday, April 7 to 5 a.m. Monday, April 9, there are no 1 trains between 14th Street and South Ferry due to work at Cortlandt Street.

For Five Weekends, a Train Will Operate in Two Sections in Brooklyn. L Line will run additional service. No C service.

For five out of six weekends between Saturday, March 31 and Monday, May 7, A Line service will be suspended in both directions between Jay Street-Borough Hall and Utica Avenue in Brooklyn while MTA New York City Transit replaces roadbed and track infrastructure in Downtown Brooklyn. This service suspension will not be in place over the Easter Holiday weekend.

Statement on Shooting Death of NYC Transit Employee

Earlier this morning, NYC Transit Property Protection Agent James Plocica was shot and killed while waiting for a bus in front of 2006 Ralph Avenue, in Brooklyn. Plocica was off duty and on his way home, after working a 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. shift at NYC Transit's Linden Subway Yard.

"On behalf of the 49,000 member NYC Transit family, I want to extend my prayers and express my sincere condolences to PPA Plocica's family, friends and loved ones," said Millard L. Seay, Acting President, NYC Transit.

Kingsbridge Road and 183rd Street Stations 4 Will Close for Four and One-Half Months While Under Rehabilitation

MTA NYC Transit announced today that the ongoing $55 million construction project to reconstruct and rehabilitate five stations along the Jerome Avenue 4 line has come to the Kingsbridge Road and 183rd Street stations. In order to perform this vital work, the station will be closed beginning today, Monday, March 5, re-opening this summer in mid-July.
