MTA New York City Transit Launches ‘Clean Slate’ Redesign of Brooklyn Bus Network

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) today announced the first series of public open houses this fall as part of a comprehensive redesign of the Brooklyn local and express bus networks, which will redraw the entire borough’s bus routes for the first time. This historic undertaking will use public feedback, multiple sources of data and analysis, and a thorough review of demographics and upcoming developments to create a bus network that reimagines service for 650,000 Brooklyn bus riders.

Weekend Subway Service Advisory

These weekend service changes are part of the MTA Subway Action Plan, station improvements in Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan, and ongoing maintenance, repair and upgrade work throughout the MTA New York City Transit subway system to maintain and upgrade track, signal, station and other infrastructure in order to provide customers with safe and reliable service.  More information on the 2015-2019 MTA Capital Program is available here.

MTA Elevator and Escalator Upgrades at Grand Central Get Underway on Monday, Sept. 30

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority reminds customers that on Monday, Sept. 30, crews will begin upgrading the escalators and elevators in the 42nd Street passage in Grand Central. This enhancement is a new phase in the overall modernization of Grand Central, and follows the completion of several other stair expansion and elevator projects.

The rebuilt and renewed escalators and elevators will have multiple benefits for customers, including: greater reliability, 24-hour safety and operational monitoring and intercoms, and larger elevator cabs.
