New York City Transit to Perform Critical Repairs on Canarsie Tunnel Ahead of Planned 2019 Closure

New York City Transit (NYCT) will conduct critical repairs and preparatory work on the L Subway Line’s Canarsie Tunnel starting in May in order to ensure the tunnel can remain open until the planned April 2019 closure of the tunnel for full rehabilitation from the damage caused by Superstorm Sandy.

FASTRACK Comes to the J Line in Lower Manhattan

An extensive list of maintenance, cleaning and repair assignments will be performed along a portion of the J Subway Line, beginning Monday, May 1, when MTA New York City Transit’s FASTRACK program begins the first week of a two-week effort in Lower Manhattan.   FASTRACK work will be performed for four consecutive weeknights, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m.

Governor Cuomo Announces Green Bus Pilot Program in New York City

Governor Andrew Cuomo today announced that the MTA is beginning an electric bus pilot program that will launch with a total of 10 buses in December 2017. As part of the new pilot, the MTA has secured board approval to lease the first five electric buses. A lease for an additional five buses will be presented to the MTA Board later this year. The pilot program will test the performance of these electric buses in New York City and evaluate the results to determine future orders of all-electric buses.

Bay Ridge Av R Station to Close for Complete Overhaul

The Bay Ridge Av station on the R Subway line in Brooklyn is scheduled to close on Saturday, April 29, as MTA New York City Transit moves forward on the second of more than 30 subway stations undergoing major renovations as part of its “Enhanced Station Initiative” to modernize and reimage subway stations.

Governor Cuomo Announces Roll Out of New Buses with Wi-Fi and USB Charging Parts in Brooklyn and Manhattan

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo today announced that the first of 86 new buses equipped with Wi-Fi service and USB ports have arrived in Brooklyn, and that the first of 79 new buses have arrived in Manhattan. The new buses will replace nearly 40 percent of the MTA’s current fleet and represent a $1.3 billion investment of Capital Program resources.

FASTRACK Returns to the L Line in Brooklyn

FASTRACK work will be performed for four consecutive weeknights, from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. on April 3-7 and April 10-14.
